Need help with a diaper rash!!!!!

We tried both of those creams. I have been leaving him naked more and keeping him dry and feeding him more yogurt and lots of water and it seems to be working.

@ Veronica 3-4 hours seems like an awfully long time to have urine touching the skin, if you change him more often maybe that will make a difference.

@ Jovanna Johnston You could get nystatin or clomitrazole cream from the doctor. Nystatin is for diaper rash and Clomitrazole cream is for skin yeast infections.

My 6 month old has this ongoing yeast rash. I thought it was a daiper rash but after treating it for months with strong ointments containing zinc ox. I noticed it kept returning in the same spots and realized it wasn't a regular diaper rash. His Dr. said it was a yeast and prescribed nystatin along w hydrocortisone. Weeks have passed and still no improvement it keeps returning. : (

I clean his tush with soap and water after every b.m ( bowel movemnt) , air dry, mix the creams & change him about every 3-4 hrs. What else can I do? I want my baby's rash to go away! I forgot to mention I tried organic diapers and it didn't make a difference.

Since you say the medicine works but the infection comes back maybe you could try increasing his yogurt intake or offer a probiotic daily. They have probiotics for children, we give our son one every day. They will help in stabilizing the good and bad yeast and hopefully clear up the infection. You can also put plain organic yogurt right onto the infected area and let it sit for a bit. Poor thing! I hope he gets better soon! Good luck!

THe only thing that worked on my boy for diaper rashes was vaseline mixed with cornstarch. A&D ointment seemed to make it worse, Bordeaux butt paste wouldn't let it progress but wouldn't make it better, and I couldn't afford to try Burt's bee's when his rashes needed cream.



bordeaux worked wonders for my daughter though, awesome stuff.



besides keeping him as dry as possible w/ diaper changes (which i'm sure you're doing already) you can always try cornstarch in his diaper in place of baby powder.



Otherwise, call the Dr office and tell them what they prescribed isn't helping.

the only thing that clears up my boy's rashes (regular rash, not infection related) is triple paste (you can get it at cvs or rite aid) and warm baths with baking soda or epsom salts (and no soap or baby shampoo).

I would take him back, if the medicine isn't working it may be something else. When my daughter used to get diaper rash, I would just go without a diaper for a few minutes to make sure the area is dry. Use diaper rash creams and give him baths.
