Neighbor complains about toddler stomping over and over?

@Dove, I'm not sure who sent the letter I received today but I will be going up to the office on Monday to speak with them directly. The lady we spoke with at the apartment office said she would make a note in the computer that our daughter was only 2 so I don't know why they would send another saying we could face lease termination now.

@Lacye, well our lease is almost up so hopefully we can just transfer to a ground level apartment to finish up the lease because we plan to start renting a home after this. I was thinking about leaving a note on his door and explain that she just turned 2 in August so he would maybe understand where I'm coming from. Which is what we had told the office about a week ago and they said it was perfectly naturally for children to do that and that the community we live in is for families, so I really didn't worry about it after that. But now it's just so frustrating to think that we could be kicked out of our home for doing nothing wrong. It's not like we are purposely trying to disturb the peace and we definitely do not have her up at odd hours at night either.

Who did the letters come from? I was thinking with the mention of lease termination it was coming FROM management (at least the second one)....

They sent it out because they had to. That's all. I didn't realize when I first read your OP that the management sent you the letter. It makes no sense but they have to do it. I would not say anything to the neighbor without a member of management there though. Who knows what could happen and if dude went and told some lies about you and your hubby, yall would be the ones in trouble.

@Lacye, that's exactly what we thought too! I will definitely be going to the office on Monday and figure out if we can somehow switch to a different level or work something out. I don't understand why they would tell us to not worry about it and then send out another complaint..

@Vicki, I've been looking online for help about noise ordinances but haven't found much. I also read that the community where we live is a multifamily community where some level of noise is to be expected. And we do have carpet, but I'm thinking about sending my husband over there to exchange a few words with the neighbor. I just don't understand how we are at fault for having a toddler play in her own home and be punished for it! It's very very frustrating :(

Save the letter and take it to your apartment manager. Make sure you make a copy of both letters for you in case things start to get ugly. Your neighbor can't really do anything about it and if he doesn't want to hear your child running around playing then he really needs to move. You are going to hear noises when you live on the bottom floor of an apartment building. I know because I live on the bottom of an apartment building. He's just going to have to get over it.

Hi Samantha, How frustrating is that, having kids being kids and being punished for something that is natural! WOW! Is there anyway you can fight this? Do you have somewhere you can call to find out what your rights are as a tenant? Kids do have bedtimes and im sure there can be some kind of allowance for noise coming from children? Do you have any carpeting on the floors, not that would help much anyway. Have you gone down to speak to the person doing the complaning and explained to him that the little person doing the stomping is only two?
