Never heard of vagina hole closing up....

Not only did this happen to my middle daughter when she was around 3yrs old, but it is now happening to my baby girl who is now 3yrs old. This never happened to my oldest daughter, however she does have a different daddy. I too had never heard of it and was totally freaked the first time I saw it. I never imagined it would happen to my youngest as well. In fact I wasn't even watching for it. Boy do I feel bad. I missed it in both because it happened to mine during potty training success. Panties during the day then pull-ups at night. They would say "my pee-pee hurts" and I would say "drink more water...you need to drink more". Then when I finally take a look.... Something just looks wrong. My first's would come and go. We too used the estrogen cream. I remember the insurance company questioning the script. Usually the cream is for menopausal women. Once it opened up we would just use Vaseline several times a day. It cannot adhere if you keep Vaseline on it. Now that I have discovered this in my last child, I've been using Vaseline, but it's not getting any better. We'll be visiting the doc this week. Thank God for the Internet. How convenient and awesome to be able to search and find information in an instant. Especially about something so private. Oh, for the record, my first child who had this is now 6yrs old and she is fine today. She outgrew it eventually. I wish I remembered how long it took. Good luck all...

This happened to my neice when she was About 6montHs old... They were told to just separate the side after it opened back up whenever they changed her diaper

The same thing happened to my daughter who is now 20 yrs old and just fine. I had to use a cream on her too. The worse part about that was that it took me almost a year to find out the problem- she would wake up in the middle of the night screaming and telling me that it hurt" down there-" I would put her in a warm bath and that seemed to help, it was just so hard to see her in pain and then take her to a doctor and have him tell me there is nothing wrong with her. Fortunately one doctor discovered this problem and was able to help her. I just wanted to let you know that this is something that will take care of itself in time with no side affects that I can tell- Hang in there

It is called labial adhesions - same as the adhesions that can happen with a boy's foreskin. It isn't terribly common, but doesn't have any long-term effects. Usually the steroid creams resolve the issue pretty quickly.

I have heard my mother talk several times about this happening to my sister when she was a baby. I believe she was much younger than 2 though. I think she was under 6 months old. The doctor also prescribed a cream and the problem never resurfaced. This was 36 years ago and my sister has 3 children now. So although it's strange, it shouldn't effect her as she ages. Hope this helps :)

i actually have heard of this before and the little girl also had to use a cream always. and if she forgot it for a short period of time, her skin would grow up.

My little girl had this as a baby they gave her a progestrone cream, but the doctor said that it was not nessecary as it would likely clear up at puberty, but it freaked me out. It was explained to me that surgery was only needed if the closure was blocking the flow of urine.

no never heard of it, that's kind of scary. My son's foreskin, we chose not to have him circumcised, tried to grow over the head of his penis, but we caught it early enough to fix it at home, no surgery or problems, but I am expecting again, and I don't know the sex, but if it is a girl I am going to always think about that now and watch for it lol Thanks for the knew knowledge, love to learn new things everyday, even if they are a little less than happy subjects gotta learn.

This happened to my niece and kept happening, eventually she had to have a surgery. It was a minor procedure, but I hope your neice doesn't have it like mine. I will pray for her.
