No labor yet please help!

Hi Raina - you'll probably get a billion responses (we love to talk about our labors!), but I just want to say that baby will come when it comes and you can try different stuff but the bottom line is God's in control so you just gotta take it day by day, one moment at a time, and do what you think is best every step of the way. I have five kids and one stillborn if that helps my credibility at all.

This might sound funny, but really rough sex. It helped me with my 1st child. Now with the second, I didn't want to be touched, and I just went naturally. Do a lot of working on your feet. I had spent 12 or so hours on my feet and went into labor with my second one that night. Hope it helps if you haven't already had the baby.

I don't mean to be rude or anything. But when I was pregnant, my husband and I had sexual intercourse (doggie style) and that brought on my labor a couple of hours later...

fineally had the baby on the 6 of this month. went into labour at 2 in the morning went to the hospital at 10.30 and had her at 12.50. from second stage it took 4 minutes to have her. well done to me, i think it needs a clap for that effort

caster oil will give you the runs. love making might help but I am not sure there is anything, dates could wrong, try acupuncture and but be patient.

Hi Raina, I would suggest alot of walking if you are able to. My mother recommended to me castor oil, but i would not recommend it,lol. sex helps get things started,if that is something you might consider, myself it was the last thing on my mind when i was pregnant with my girls,lol. went yo the doctors 2day as i am 40 weeks and 1 day and they induced me manualey and now im in so much pain its not funny. well it will come when its ready.

but if not, what your ob told you? i guess as long as your 'water' is still there, the baby is safe. my own doctor advised me to just walk around until i am ready. but really your doctor shld be doing something.

Hope you already have your baby, but if not, I agree with Melanie about the massage option. Look for someone who specializes in pregnancy massage if you can find someone in your area. Explain that you are hoping to relax and go into labor. It worked for me. I had a massage in the late afternoon and went into labor that evening. Good luck!

Try eating something spicy!! I ate some spicy chicken wings and spicy chicken burger and then about 5 hours later i went into labour.. along with a lot of walking and sex.. but i did the walking and sex the day before and nothing.. as soon as i was done eating the wings and burger i could feel myself going into labour.. its helped a few of my friends as well!! good luck

I totally agree with having your doctor strip your membranes... that worked in 3 out of my 4. Between that, a full moon, and a front moving in, that is what brought about all three of my natural labors. My one induction was just not happening and while it was not comfortable, it was an easier labor then the natural one where I stalled out and they had to give me Pitocin anyway in the middle of it. You have probably heard so many theories, like lots of sex with ejaculation inside to help naturally induce, but I heard this one from a lady at Home Depot when I was a week late, Walnut and Ranch salad, A leafy salad with Walnuts and Ranch Dressing. I was willing to try anything. I also was helping rake gravel and building a rock retaining wall, so which thing helped I am not sure but I tried all of these things....Good Luck!

Sex didnt really work for me from my duedate to +7 overdue, even though i was dilating.

I had sweep at 41wks i was 2cm. Day after, at night we had sex, i was in hos by 2am, she arrived 7:37am that morning :)

I heard about raspberry tablets from a friend, hot bath, sex and a walk should do the trick. This is probably too late but anyway some tips.

Raspberry tea! Not raspberry flavored, but true raspberry tea. If you are almost there it will speed things along....no effect if you are not ready. Worked for me... a cup every few hours!

I used a yoga ball, I was dilated 2 cm. ( for 2 weeks ) So the ball that I sat & bounced on made my water break & I started labor! Hope this helps you Good Luck & Happy New Year!

I hate to say this, but the baby willcome when it is ready. I have had 3 children. The first 2 were 15 days over. They broke my water on the 2nd one but he was already on the way. My 3rd child was born 2 days after the due date. If there is nothing wrong with the pregnancy they should have to put chemicals in your body. My first 2 pregnancy's were natural delivery all the way. i was a week over and found that castor oil and orange juice broke my water and made me go into labour 6 hours after i drank it. it was a normal size glass with a teaspoon of caster oil... you cant taste the oil either.

though everyone is different i tried walking, bumpy rides.... i was too big to have lots of sex it was too uncomfortable

When I started dialiating it was a slow process. I started walking everyday for at least 20 minutes. I started labor within a week. Hope that helps.

look everyone has something to say how it will come, but realilty is it will come when its ready. look at me i was in labour at 34 weeks and the hospital stopped it now i have nothing but trouble with the pregnancy. i have been in and out of hospital and now im due and i have tried everything for this baby to come so really just sit back and let mother nature take her course.good luck

for goodness sake...don't jump start anything as the baby could be not ready yet...a doc did that to my third and hewas born early and his lungs didn't expand....panic....don't do it...be patint...wait...babe comes when ready

Hopefully you had that baby, but like you I was dialated to a 1 for a week. Yes sex was prescribed and we were doing that but I told my Dr. that I wanted the baby to come over the weekend at my visit on Friday and he took the liberty to jam his finger up there and break the "plug" as he called it and I went into labor Saturday night after a warm bath. I'm thinking combo - walked 3 miles every day, sex, Dr. doing his job-MAIN THING and the warm bath on Saturday earlier evening. She was born Sun morn 7am, thankfully as the Dr. said lets get this down, I have an 8:30 Tee time!!

thank you everyone for the advice. Happy New Year to everyone also. We still have no baby but I still have one more thing to try. I think though that contractions maybe coming more often today and we may have a little one before the weekend is over. I have been very uncomfortable all day and have had quite a few contractions. We'll see what happens. Thanks again for the advice!

Ask your doctor to loosen your membranes for you cervix. My doctor did that with my last 2 kids an i had them with in the next 48 hours.... cant tell you if labor with be painful b/c all of mine was a breeze... I hope this helps you an you have your bundle of joy soon... Happy new Year!!! P.S. also when your have a contraction, just give a sllt push like your going potty, helped me, had them with in an hour of my water braking.. Good Luck.

Hi Raina,

I am a Homeschooling Mommy of 5, and baby #4, was due around the 4th of July. Not wanting to miss my doc, who was going out of town, the midwife gave me some "helpful hints" to get things going. Drink as many Big Gulps of Castor Oil as you can. This will not only "clean you out", which is a GREAT way to go into labor, but it also Jump Starts your body, and gets labor going. I took it that night, around 6:00p.m, and was in Good, strong, active labor by midnight! Had baby in my arms by 5:00 a.m.~

Hi Raina, How exciting! The anticipated arrival is soon. All I was told was in 1991 and 1994 when I had my children I was that alot of walking would help the baby to drop down into position and start things if I did kept it up. I walked 2 miles everyday but obviously you never want to over due... My births were like 2 1/2 hours with both of our children~ With my daughter they broke my water because I was dialated 41/2 and it just hadn't broke yet. With my son my water broke when I stood up out of bed They are 15 yrs and 18 yrs now... it's true, apparently there is something in semen that can induce labour...and according to my midwife, it is even more effective if ingested (yuck!)...also, accupuncture or massage can help!!

I did not want to be induced with my second child and I was nearing that cut off date. My doula and midwife said I could try castor oil. I tried it when she was one week over due but it didn't work. My midwife said if your body is ready it will work. Well, I tried it a week later and used a different recipe. This reciped was with root beer pop and ice cream. It went down way easier. This time it worked right away. I know it's not for everyone. I think a big part was me relaxing . I was so stressed the previous week (my husbands relatives were staying with us!!!!!!) that I think my body just no, not yet. As soon as they were out of the house I tried the castor oil and bam. I was ready to go. Good luck! I also was taking black cohosh now that I think of it and taking primrose.
