Hi, um I'm kind of new here and I have what I think could be a problem and I need help. After having my baby I got my period 2 weeks while breastfeeding..so it wasn't even a month before I started. then after 7 months I stopped breastfedding but I still had my period... now its been about a month and a half and I haven't had my period but lots of cramping.. I took several pregnancy tests and I know I'm not pregnant...I even stopped taking birth control to make sure I got my period but even with birth control I still had it...now I'm confused and idk what it could be someone help?

i was concered as well after i had my third child. He was 2 months old and i still hadnt had a period. I spoke to my doctor and he told me it can take up to 1 year post-partum for a womans hormones to balance out and to regain some sort of normal period. I hope this helps!

My son is 9 months old and I still haven't had a period; and I quit breastfeeding when he was 3 months old. I've even been to the doctor and had blood work done and was put on the medicine that was suppose to induce a period and got nothing. Trying to get back in touch with my doctor again now to find out what's going on.

I didn't breastfeed either. The doctors told me that most periods start 6 weeks post-birth. This wasn't the case for me either...It took 14 weeks for it to start. You can also see your doctor. Your doctor can prescribe medications that will cause your period to start.

well I've got you allll beat! lol

I bled after having my son for about six months. hes seven months now and I still havent gotten a 'real' period. I'm assuming it has something to do with all the bleeding post pregnancy.

I would suggest seeing your gyno if its something that worries you.

I got my period 3.5 months after my first daughter was born, and ~4.5 months after my second daughter was born. I have heard it has to do with when the child stops (or drastically cuts down on) nighttime feedings and/or introducing solids. It might also be just a very individual thing as I have also heard of people not getting their periods for ~1 year afterwards if they were breastfeeding. I think it usually returns by 8 weeks if you are not breastfeeding.

My first baby, Joel, will be 3 months old on the 24th, and I haven't gotten mine yet, either. But I did bleed for almost 6 weeks after he was born ...My twin sister had a boy, her 2nd baby, a month before me, and she got her period only a month after she had him. I think it's different for everyone.

with my 1st i got it when he was about 4 months, with my 2nd, i didn't stop bleeding for 8 weeks and with my last i got it when she was about 2 months old, she'll be 3 months on the 10th. I actually had it 3 weeks ago for 2 weeks and just got it again this week. if you don't get it within the next couple of months, you should probably see your dr just to make sure everything is ok.

Hi Victoria,

I did not start my period until almost 2-3 months after my twins were born. I did not breastfeed either. I really thought that something was really wrong because after my first child was born I started in like a month. I think that the main reason why it took so long for it to start after the twins was because I was under so much stress because when I started was when I went on a girls weekend getaway. No stress just relaxing. Hope that this might help you out. Good Luck!
