Soliciting is not allowed on Circle of Moms, and we have a zero tolerance policy. This means no work-from-home recruitment pitches, no ads for dieting programs, no coupon codes, no personal businesses pitches. If you're seeing these in your community, delete them, and post a note at the top explaining that they are not welcome, so that users who might be tempted to use your group to solicit are discouraged. Here's a note you can pin to the top as a thread:

Our community frowns upon solicitations, so please do not post them here.

There is a dedicated Work-from-Home Business Opportunities community on Circle of Moms where you can post about your business and products:

http://www.circleofmoms.com/group.php?en...

Thanks for you cooperation and understanding.

Please also send the text above via PM (personal message) to the mom who is posting ads or solicitations. If she solicits again in your community you should send her an Admin Warning, and then block her.

If you see any type of soliciation on a member's profile wall, please contact The Community Management Team by PM with a link to the solicitation: http://www.circleofmoms.com/about_me/437...

A few members have asked us if there are any exceptions, and the answer is: rarely. But here are a few that fall into a gray area, so we want to explain more carefully what you should do.

NOT ALLOWED

Posting diaper codes (the poster gets money off diapers for each person who uses her code).

This can be very annoying to members in group forums, especially if lots of people start doing it, so we want to discourage it.

Admins and Mods should delete these posts and tell the OP she can message her personal circle instead (but NOT to PM strangers).

"Vote for my child to win" a contest in which she could win money.

Again, this can be extremely annoying to members in group forums and is almost always off topic.

Admins and Mods should delete these posts and tell the OP she can message her personal circle instead (but NOT to PM strangers).

Creating a community to promote a member's product, service, or business opportunity.

Circle of Moms communities were not designed for business promotion and we will remove any communities created by members for this purpose. We are, however, working on providing a channel for members who wish to connect with others in this way. Please e-mail us with your name and contact information, and we will reach out to you when we are ready to host communities of this nature.

ALLOWED UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES

Research requests

When academics or people who claim to be academics post asking members for info or to fill out a survey, their posts should be deleted.

Please then ask them to write to Sascha at the Community Management team (sascha (at) circleofmoms.com) to have their request evaluated. If we determine that they are genuine and well-intentioned we will then have them seek permission to re-post their request directly from the Admin of the specific community, and then it is up to the Admin to decide if it would be interesting or beneficial in some other way to her community.

Requests for donations or money

In general, requests for money are not permitted unless prior permission was given by the group's Admin.

When a member asks others in her groups to give money to a particular charity or cause without seeking permission for the Admin, her post should be deleted unless the cause is directly tied to the group's interests (for example, a Breast Cancer Walk in a Breast Cancer Survivor's Group) AND is shown by the OP to be a legitimate charity.

There is currently someone soliciting using screen name buyme203...I cannot flag comments from mobile and currently that is all I have access to.

I saw posts in:

Single mother losing it

Need help with troubled 10 year old

Need help with verbal abusive husband to children

I am pretty sure these are all in Welcome to Circle of Moms.

Edit...had screen name off by one number.

Yes. That is allowed Northern. In fact, when promoting your new CoM group in here, make sure to add a link to make it easier for other people to get to your new group.

No Chicora, Kathrine sent messages to all members. I am sure it was just a glitch, or she sent it again so newer members can receive it. If you have been soliciting, you would be getting a formal warning.....or if you were an auto spammer, just have your profile blocked from the site.

This is my 2nd time getting this message. I'm hardly on this site and I know I haven't solicited. Is there a reason I keep receiving this message?

Oh so I won't get any replies to my thread then asking for other bloggers to comment with their blog URLs!

Blog links aren't allowed either. Unless it is a blog that isn't yours and you are using it to refer someone who has a relevant question.

Does leaving links to personal blog posts count as soliciting?

That was a lot to read :) but I got it! This sounds like an excellent website to just vent and get ideas from other moms and to just know that we are not alone :) Have a great/blessed day

Solicitation is considered selling something correct if you are not benefiting monetarily from giving advice then this does not count correct. This morning I ran across your ad when it popped up at the bottom of my screen so I clicked on your links in this ad neither of them work I don't know if you typed it in incorrectly or if they are links that are no longer active?

Diane, you can answer without saying, Oh, and I sell it, here's my contact details. If they want help and a product works, tell them to look up the product. But don't solicit the business.

I'm thinking I goofed up by mentioning colic calm. I may have mentioned it elsewhere and not here, but I cannot remember. If I did, I am sorry, and will not do so again. My intent when mentioning it is only to bring relief to someone in intense pain, through natural purposes, so again, if I did so, I apologize and will not do so again, but sometimes moms ask a "Help" question and it's hard not to answer. Thanks for the heads up info.
