My son has had 5 cavities filled (in 3 separate visits) all without being put under... and he started at 3.5.... I would think that over the past 6 months getting a couple at a time done would have been much better than letting them all go. Then again, if you've tried 4 dentists and none of them are going to work w/ you.... getting him put under to get it done would probably be a lot better than continuing to let it go.

I do know there are MANY kids that wouldn't be able to handle it like my son has, but then... I have a weird kid. Whimpers in the chair, but by the time we are done and walking out he's talking about how much fun it was. lol

I know you don't want him under but I honestly think that by not putting him under and doing it while he is awake is going to be very traumatic for him. My son has had lots of cavalries and if we ever discovered that big of a problem I would listen to the dentists, especially if more are discovered on the X-ray. The other problem with not using putting him under is they are only gong to be able to do one or two at a time if he's cooperating.

Well, it seems like you are having a difficult time understanding that. 4 dentists have told you what you need to do. One of them is threatening to call CPS on you. A forum full of moms is not going to tell you anything different. They are professionals in their field. It would be wise to do what they tell you, cause clearly all 4 of them have the best interest of the health of your childs mouth and future teeth.

There is no other way to fix them. You posted a question on an open forum. Expect all sorts of advice and answers. Also the longer you go without taking care of his cavities, the worse they will get.

Thank you, I have been obsessively taking better care of my son's teeth for the last six months, while trying to let him get a little older before he might have to have something drastic done to his little body and mind. I also said the dentist's tone and insults Made me Feel neglectful, not that I was or am. My son did not have processed foods until he was 1 year old, eats raw spinach and lettuces from our greenhouse, and to this day prefers water over juice. Is his case extreme? Yes! I am seeking advice from others who may have experienced this, not opinions. What I want is a less invasive way to handle my son's cavities- as I stated in my post.

I honestly don't think there is any other way to take care of his dental issues without anesthesia. I think you are out of luck.

As for CPS, I have no idea why they would get involved. Maybe the doctor thinks you are neglectful for your child having so many cavities? i don't know. You would have to ask him. But definately start taking care of his teeth better.

So you have seen 4 dentists that all say the same thing. I am not sure what else you want. 4 professionals in the field are saying the exact same thing. Most people just go for a 2nd opinion, but with 4 doctors agreeing with one another I am not sure you have any other options.
