OK I know there might be some mothers who agree or disagree with this..but I've seen baby girls like 3 weeks old with ears pierced but I think in my opinion that's too early..I got told they recommend 6months...and then I got told at least wait a year old before doing that, I want to get my daughters ears pierced like get her birth stones in which is month of FEB..so just wondering how young was your little one before you got their ears pierced?

One my thing, most salons now will pierce both ears at the same time.. This worked well for me and many of my friends!

My daughter is now 4 and I did hers when she was 12 months. She didnt even budge, kinda looked around like "what was that noise". I kept the studs in for a short time then I put in white gold "keepers". Tiny little hoops. They were too small for her to get her fingers into the holes, and they were more comfortable for her to sleep on as no backs would be diggin into her head. Everyone is different, but its nice to hear everyones opinions!!

Personally, I waited till my daughter was in elementary school. I kind of used it as a reward for doing well in school. One one of friends told her daughter when she started PreSchool, and was a big girl, she could get hers pierced. On the other hand, I had to beg my mom at 12 to get mine pierced and was told no. So me being the rebellient child, pierced them myself at 13!! Not a good idea!! :) Good Luck! My twin grand daughters are two and already ask for diamonds!!

mine was 6 months old, its better to do it when they are younger they heal faster and dont even remember the pain,my little one only cried for a few minutes and that was it, plus they cant pull at them at this age, or let them decided when they are like six because then they will understand it will hurt but only like a shot and then it will be ok so its your call so either younger or older in my opinion

My daughter was 18 mos old and we didn't have any problems at that age except for a few tears, no worse than a shot. She's 18 now and has several more piercings.

I actually made my daughter wait until she was 7! Believe it or not, it was a good thing because now she understands and respects how to take care of her earrings on her own. It's good responsibility.

My girls are now 12 and 13. My husband comes from a Italian background and they wanted them done when they were about a month old. (because it made them look like little girls). I waited till they were 6 months and had them done. Either one didn't fuss at all.. I probably was a lucky mom for that. They were still a little to young to pull at their ears and the healed nicely. But everyone is different.

I got my daughters ears pierced on her 2nd birthday because she asked for it. Everyone wanted me to get it done when she was born but I said that when she asks me then I will do it so she asked just before her birthday so I did it on her birthday and she was soo happy to get it done.

my baby girl was pierced when she was a month and a couple of weeks old, why?during this time she did not touch her ears, but if you want to wait until she is older, she will be able to pull her ears and she might hurt herself because the ears might not be healed.

My girls had theirs done as a 7th birthday present. They were old enough then to decide whether they wanted it done and also old enough to keep their ears clean and looked after.

Hi, I was 3 when my mum pierced my ears, and she said I harped at her until she would give in... my daughter was 5 when she asked but I imagine that my 2 year old will ask sooner than that. She likes to be just like her older sister who is now 11. We decided to wait for our girls to ask, they know when they are ready but the then again the younger they are... the more they forget about how sore it is. What do u think is right? It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks!

I was 3 when my mom took me to get my ears pierced, I loved having all the cool earrings my mom got me. my daughter asked at 6 and when i told her that she could , but told her about the pain when the gun pierces, she said no. Finally decided on her 8th that she wanted to, lucky for us grandma had a gun and did it at home. but she has a hard time wiht cheap earrings. watchout for that.

I believe they should not get thier ears pierced until they are old enough to know what piercing is and all the care that comes with it. Some people are allergic to the metals in the earrings and can only wear 24 carat gold or higher. i feel children should not have thier ears pierced as babies as they are way too young to know what ois going on. Waiting until they are in their teens or of adult age and can decide for themselves I think is best. I did not and would never put my children through the pain. They are adults now. I got my ears pierced when I was 18 yrs old. That is soon enough. They still sell clip on if earrings are wanted in the ears. Although some of them can pinch if they are too tight. I guess it is just a personal decision. Confer with your husband and see how he feels. You will have to make your own decision.

Just a warning. I had my ears pierced when I was little, and one night the left earing caught on something and ripped my ear. It's still ripped. My mom use to superglue the earlobe so I could wear two earings. It doesn't happen a lot, but I wanted you to know that it is a possibility.

my mom made me wait until i was 16 as she was squemish about taking them in and out. i had my daugther's ears done when she was 3 she's now 5 she has had no probs with them at all. i do advise you to take her to a beauty salon to get them done though as they are more hygenic.

It is really up to you. Having a tiny baby with pierced ears isn't bad, but I waited until my daughter's 4th birthday.

I remember getting my ears pierced- It was a big thing for me when I was a little girl! I wanted my daughter to have that experience too, so I waited until she asked to get her ears pierced. It was great, she was so excited and loved picking out her earrings and doing such a big girl thing!

A word of advice though, when you do decide to get it done go to the drugstore and get some EMLA. It is a topical anesthetic that you apply 1-2 hours beforehand and then it doesn't hurt at all! Not even a cringe!

My daughter was 5 months and she is 4 now and loves to wear a wide assortment of earrings! She didn't even cry when they pierced them, one person per ear and they peirced them both at the same time. The care was not so bad either, I did the required cleaning techniques after she came out of the tub while getting her dressed so took no extra time really.

Well, I wanted to wait until she asked for them. but my husband wanted them done and she "said" yes. Well, she was two. She said "yes" to everything. Well we got them done. They lasted a few months and we took them out because she didn't like them.

my little girl was 4 when she had her ears pierced and she wanted it done. i wasn't too keen on the idea. after a couple of trips to wal-mart and every time we would pass the jewelry counter she would mention it i finally gave in.

definately leave it to the child.

Hi Hope. I still haven't let my daughter have her ears pierced. I think everyone has such differing views on this one so I would do what's right for you. I've told my daughter that if she has her ears pierced now (she's just turned 10) then she would have nothing to look forward to when she is a teenager. I've agreed on 13 with her to celebrate becoming a teenager. It's still a bit early for my liking but it's a modern world we live in and she does suffer a bit of peer pressure sadly.

One of my girls got her ears pierced around age 5, the other waited until she was 16. Personally, I think it depends on the child. Some children are more rambunxious than others which could risk the earrings getting pulled out. My opinion is that babies tug at their ears, or blankets or clothing getting caught on the earrings, or they get pulled out and could possibly be swollowed,so it may be dangerous.

I agree that it is a personal decision. That is an interesting question. I always thought I was against babies having their ears pierced. I ended up marrying a Brazilian. His mother bought Anna her first pair of earings before she was born. In Brazil they do it right at the hospital when they are born. It is a cultural thing. It is just common and almost expected for girls to have them done. I was shocked! Then it was like 5 months later and I was with my baby and said, hmm...I think she would look cute and what the heck, if she decides she doesn't want them when she is older she can always take them out. I did it, my husband held her, she cried briefly and then was fine. She never touched or played with them. They healed beautifully. It is a personal choice for sure!

I got my baby's ears pierced at her 2 month appt. When I was born, my doctor did it at the hospital so it wasn't something that I was worried about. Its easier to get it done earlier to avoid the risk of infection if they touch it a lot once they start discovering all their little body parts. I've had friends that waited until 1 or 2 years and it caused problems b/c they kept touching it. Its really up to you when you want to get it done also.

When my daughter was young her doctor wanted for her to wait until her 2 mo, shots. Also the doctor was the one who pierced them. I was told the younger the better because they don't feel it at much and as they grow they don't pull on them because they have always been there and are use to them. But as you probably already know....mom knows best when to get this done :)

My daughter was 3months old. I got the most expensive ones because of the materials they were made of are less likely for an infection. I went to clares and I know that some dont agree with that. But since I have been trained with these guns I am comfortable with the way it is done and do not worry about them not being clean!

I thought about doing it when my girls (twins-identical) were infants, because I thought it would be cute and an easy way to tell them apart, but in the end I decided to wait until they asked to have it done, and then make them wait until they were responsible enough to care for the piercing themselves. We got their ears pierced on their 8th birthday, they did the turning and application of the solution themselves very responsibly, and everything turned out well. :o) Hope that helps!

And have them do both ears at the same time mu daughter only cried for like 3 seconds.

I got my daughters done at the age of 2 months. We went to piercing pagoda in the mall and they require your child to have their 2nd set of shots before they pierce ears. I think other places are like that as well. Do what you feel and what you think is best for your child. My baby screamed to the top of her lungs for like 5 seconds and when it was over she was fine.

Well here in Spain ( I've got 3 girls ), ears are generally pierced within hours of birth. I'm sure a lot won't agree to this but I saw how it was done and neither of my girls showed any signs of pain or discomfort! I myself had my ears pierced in this way but when I was 20 I decided to do 2 more piercings on my ears and believe me I did show signs of pain !!!
