OK I know there might be some mothers who agree or disagree with this..but I've seen baby girls like 3 weeks old with ears pierced but I think in my opinion that's too early..I got told they recommend 6months...and then I got told at least wait a year old before doing that, I want to get my daughters ears pierced like get her birth stones in which is month of FEB..so just wondering how young was your little one before you got their ears pierced?

I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was around 6-8 months old... I can't remember exactly. Typically you're told to wait till they are 6 months, and I think that is because of shots or possible infections, they are old enough to fight it off better. I personally think it's better to do it younger so that they don't "remember" the little pain that comes with the actual piercing. If you do it when they get a little older, especially if you're child is like mine, they will remember that you "hurt" them lol because my daughter was only several months old, she of course doesn't remember it at all, but has always been stoked that she gets to wear pretty earrings all the time :) she's constantly raiding mine and my mom's jewelry boxes for earrings, and of course now at 9, is starting to want to wear the dangly earrings, tryin to look all growed up!!! lol

I don't think there's anything wrong with it... just go to a reputable place and make sure you keep them clean.

I have three girls and i got all there ears pierced when they were 2 months old. Most places won't do them until they have there first shots and they are at least 2 months. My older girls said they are glad i did it when they were little. they only cried for a second like if they got a shot and never messed with them. hope this helps.all in all its your choice to do what you think is best.

i got my daughters ears done at 4mths old she cried a little but by the time we got out of the shop she fell asleep and hasnt had a problems with them to this day. She doesnt mess with them because they were done before she realised they were there. I think its up to you when you feel ready but if you really want them done but are a bit scared get some one else to take her in the shop and you wait outside which is what i did then i went in to comfort her straight after they were done.

That is a personal decision that should be left up to the Mommy if you think that she is ready then she ready.

my daughter was 9 mts old when we had hers pierced! She cried for the first few minutes and that was it. She has gotten them hung on clothing and pulled them out, nothing major though. It takes only a few minutes a day to clean & turn them. Every once in awhile I take my daughters out and put alcohol on them and let them "rest".

I figure it would be easier to deal with them now and they will never remember the minute of pain when they get older!!

i pierced my first daughter ears at 2 months, my second daughter at a year, my first daughter ears healed better and quicker, i had to remove my other daughter earrings because she kept pulling , would not let it heal, plus she gave me hell to get them shoot in,, my first daughter was sleeping when she got hers done, so she wasn't even aware of it,

So i think it is better to pierce them between 3-6 months, but of course every child is different, so i guess mummy will have to decide.

I bought the earrings that had the screw on backs, was a little more expensive because my daughter has to wear real gold, but she never lost any backs.

I waited until my daughter was 11mos old. i don't think i would wait any later than that because as they get older the harder it is.

Quoting Jamie:

My daughter was 6 mths old when we got hers pierced. However, we have since taken them out and let her holes grow up (is only 17 mths now). She kept pulling at one of them and getting the back of it off. We've lost several earings from her doing it. And now I'm kind of happy about it. Both hubby and I agree that it will be something I can take her to do when she's older and she can decide if she wants it or not.

Sorry forgot to say this also:  I don't disagree with getting it done at an early age.  I'm glad we did it, but since we have taken them out, she has quit pulling at her ears.  Most kids don't mess with them at that age, which helps keep down the infection.  Every place we checked with recommended 6 mths and said they wouldn't do it unless they were atleast 6 mths old.

6 months - just what the doctor ordered. just make sure you get someone experienced with piercing young ones ears! My baby girl did just fine. She cried after the first one, more surprised than anything and after the second we went outside of the store and I held her for a few moments and the next thing I knew a balloon caught her attention and then we were back in the store picking out cute earrings. She is now 4 and plays in my jewelry box all the time. She loves to pick out her earrings each morning, sparkle ones get the most wear :-) Good luck!

My daughter is now 3 yrs old and I got her ears pierced at about the age of 1 and now at three she loves them and she likes to pick out new earings. Its all a matter of what you feel and how you think the child will feel... Honestly how many girls do you know that do not have their ears pierced? or women? =0)

Allot of people have told me you should wait till there two because thats when there ear lobes have finished developing but i did get my daughters ears pierced at 7 mnths i personally think its much better gettin them done why they are young. she hasn had a problem with them but its really upto u when u want to get them pierced..

I got my daughters ears pierced when they were about 20 months, but after a few months they kept taking them out and now I have to get them re pierced. I think that I should have either done it earlier so they didn't remember not having their ears pierced, or waited until they were a little older and could understand not to take them out. Every kid is different, but I thought I would let you know what happened with mine.

I have 2 daughters, both with pierced ears. The first one I waited till her first birthday and made it a special outing. The second one was more spur of the moment and she was only 3 mths old. Neither one had any problems with their ears after they were pierced. I do recommend that you make sure that wherever you go they do BOTH ears at the same time. If they don't like it when they get older they can always let them close up.

ok. i got mine done @ the age of 6 but that was my parents choice. i got my daughters done when she was 9 months she is now 7 & has been doing great with them. now my steo daughter she got hers done @ 2 yrs old but she kept messing with them so they got infected so she is 7 now & we just got them done again so far so good. i think it should be whatever the parents think. and if they do get to where she wont leave them along then take them out & wait til she is older.

i had both my girls done @ six weeks. it was quick & easy. cry for a minute. done & over with. this way when they get a few months older they don't know they have earrings in and won't touch it. that's how infections usually start.

ok so I waited untill the first round of shot... I was a girl that got her ears pierced at age 13 so I could care for them myself because that is what my momo thought was best and it hurt couldn't sleep on the side of my head or anything :( Did my daughters at three months and she still has them and loves to pick out her own style of earrings now its awesome.

I did both of my girls at around 3-4 weeks old. The reason why I did this is because the older they get the more likely they are to pull of the earing and play with it which can cause an infection and other things. I felt that the earlier I did it the less chance they would play with them and for the most part they don't even bother them. My oldest is now 6 and we change her's out but the youngest still doesn't even notice them in.
