I gave birth to my daughter August 2nd... And for the past two days, the period I've been having has been light, heavy, and then stops... Then it repeats. I've had unprotected sex... Quite a few times when I the bleeding had stopped. Can I get pregnant while I'm bleeding and a week after my vaginal birth? Or is there anything else I should be worried about?

Why would you have sex when it's explicitly said that you shouldn't? The cause for infection is really high and I really don't know why you'd risk that. Plus.....ow...vaginal delivery and then sex? How is that pleasurable?

It really depends if you have ovulated yet or not, which you most likely haven't, but not impossible. My bleeding continued for about 4wks after birth and went from really heavy (first few days) then really light, then heavier, then light etc....then it just tappered off.

You can get pregnant right away, however if you are exclusively breast feeding it's unlikely that you have ovulated yet. I doubt you would get pregnant this soon anyway, but it is possible. If you are concerned, talk to your dr and get a blood test done or wait it out and take an at home test. This soon after giving birth an at home test could give you a false positive so I would opt for the blood test. Good Luck

I am far from an expert, but I do know that you are most fertile directly after giving birth since your hormones are surging...I wouldn't have sex with my husband for a month and then it was protected until I was back on my birth control. It is possible that you could be pregnant if you have had unprotected sex. I would check and see if you are. Better to be safe than sorry. Good luck!
