I have a 3 month old daughter who I nurse, my problem is I don't seem to have an adequate amount of milk to feed her. No matter how much milk I get she never seems to get full so she cries a lot!! I've been losing a lot of sleep and have been very bitchy, especially to my husband and 3 year old son and end up appologizing all the time!! My husband and I talked to our children's pediatrician and he said it would be fine to start supplementing with some formula and that worked for awhile, but she's not even taking the bottle anymore!! At this point i'm very exhausted and very desperate for some help and feedback to make things better!! Please help me!

I always have the same problem, but i usually start supplementing very early and i use the advent bottles and my kids always took to them really good. did you try to change formulas, maybe she doesnt like the one your using, i used enfamil the one flavor that they compare to breast milk. you can also try pumping and mixing the breast milk and formula. I hope everything works out i totally know what your going through and wish you luck. I also contacted the la leche leage and they gave me some helpful advice.

Stop supplimenting or you will most likely end your nursing relationship.

If she's crying after your breast, there's probably another reason. Maybe she's gassy.  Maybe she is reacting to the dairy in your diet?  Maybe she has reflux?

Is she not having enough wet diapers?  What makes you think other than the crying she's not getting enough.

Are you sure it's hunger? I would look at how many wet diapers she is producing during a day to help decide. Maybe she is fussy about something else. I would avoid supplementation until I was POSITIVE that your supply is the problem. Maybe just nurse her more often (even though it seems like that's ALL you do) and of course pump to help boost your supply.

definately pump between some feedings as much as you can handle. It might be pretty  uncomfortable for you but it will pay off soon when your supply increases. It's the only way to build it up.

Hey I feel for you, it depends on what country you live in but there is a gadget that you can get that adoptive moms use to help them get the milk supply going it is like a bottle that hangs upside down around your neck with formula in and two little pipes that run down that you tape to your breast, then you latch the baby like you normally would and the little pipe goes into the baby;s mouth with your breat and so they get some breast milk and some formula, it fixes the issue about not wanting to take a bottle, as well as getting fed and it helps your body to be stimulated to produce milk, the only thing that is a negative is that it is a little time consuming to set up and get in place, but you don't have to use it for long as your body gets kick started into producing milk.  It is made by Medela. Hope this helps.

Oh maybe burp her more in between while she is eating, it might be she is very gassy and her tummy is aching!:( that is what happened to my baby girl

Does she have reflux that she's crying when she's done eating? Or is she definitely rooting to get more milk.

I had to pump in between nursing my little one in order to produre more milk. The more you nurse (pump) the more you produce. Don't worry in a month or so you can start solids and that will fill her up.

Have you tried the "breastflow" bottle? They sell is at Babies R Us. It's the only one my son will take. I nursed and supplemented.
