proper ettiquette says no baby shower unless it's been many years. but if your friends and family want to throw one for you, and it's their idea, then i say no problem. to register doesn't mean you are expecting gifts. you could simply be doing it to organize the list of things you need and to budget for them.

I registered - this is my second and they will be 20 months apart. They are different genders, but for me the bigger point than gifts is that there are still things we need and we will get a discount on them after the "event." Most places give a 10-15% discount card on items off your registry, and they only ask for an "event date" - it doesn't have to be the birth.

I don't plan to put registry cards in the invitations or anything (my family insists on another shower), but if anyone asks I will tell them.

My boys were not that far apart - 2007 & 2003, but yet friends wanted to do something special to honor our second (my husbands 4th!) and planned a shower. I was horrified! I went ahead and registered for some simple things, but kept it minimal and received so much! Some things had really improved, even in that short time, so I was grateful that society (at least in NEPA) thought it was ok!

Don't feel weird. Things wear out, get stained, etc. Also, technology changes and your kids are allowed to have different likes/dislikes. Also, YOU know more what you need/like this time around. I just had twin boys and I have a 3.5 year old boy. I registered for more boy stuff... Go for it!

i feel every baby should have a celebration of some sort, but i think registering is going a little far. only because you already have one boy and the things aren't that out dated. if it were a girl i would say ok but not another boy, but like the one lady said, if your friends and family want to throw you one, have at it!

I think every baby should celebrated. Many times you don't need as much or such expensive items since you have some left over. I have two children and had a shower with both. Women love to come together to celebrate babies! In addition, the second baby won't feel left out later, wondering why they didn't get the party for their arrival.

If you have everything, why would you need a shower? Your close friends and family will most likely bring a gift to the hospital. You can have a get together to celebrate baby once he is born.

Another bonus for registering is that you are less likely to get a lot of items that you already have a lot of! That's great that they are throwing you another shower, most of my baby gear didn't survive to get to baby #3!

Thats okay, its not a bad thing to make another baby register..it doesnt mean you are expecting people to buy things off of it...if they do then thats one less thing you have to get. And if i have another kid i'll need all new clothes and stuff...because i gave all of mine away to other people that were having kids that can afford to get things.

I dont think you should feel weird about it...you can have a baby shower for every child! i would do the same thing. Its always nice to get new stuff!
