J/W, this next time around I'm hoping for a little girl and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for traditional names?

I LOVE Kathryn but that name has been taken. I like Cassandra as well.

Christina

Alexandra

Elizabeth

All taken!

I love very feminine sounding girls names. Very pretty

My Son's name is Zackary. When I was pregnant with him, if he were a girl she would of been called Madeleine (Husband doesn't like it anymore, lol)

Any ideas?

If we have a girl we are naming her Adelle Louise (family names) Stella was one I absolutely loved but my husband wasn't too keen on it.

I have a Kathrine and a Johanna, I love both names, also an old fashioned Matthew, if I had had another girl I would have called her Evelyn Pearl after my mother (she hated her names lol) but I do like the old fashioned girl names, good luck with your choice.

Look up your family tree. I think the best traditional and old fashioned girls names are ones that have meaning. One point, though --- I have an "Abby" which when I named her, no one was Abby, but now it's common again. Anyway, I do wish (and she wishes) her name was Abigail or some name that was common enough, with a common spelling, so that her name was actually on all those knick knacks stores sell. I think if you go with a unique name, it's fine... However, if you go with a classic name, go with the classic spelling.

Matilda, Charlotte, Kitty - they are all favourite characters from Novels set in 1700's and I just love them! Matti for short, Charlie for short and Kitty is actually short for Katherine. Also like Elizabeth. I have 2 girls both teenagers now but if I was going to have more I would use any of those names. I hope you have a girl, for as much as they will in later years drive you crazy they are just so sweet when they are little!

My daughter's name is Vivienne Isabelle. Which coincidentally is the same as a British designer. Didn't mean to do that, but I found out when I was looking through Vivienne Westwood's product line that her middle name is Isabel! I thought it was a hoot!

Think about how common those names are. I have Grands named Cora and Jaide Aurelia. Pretty sure they will be tho only ones in school with those names, just like my Grandson Xander and Drake . Think outside the box! Be creative ! I have twins Sarah and Julie.

I have to disagree with spelling the name different. I work at a school and you be surprise how student get upset when you spell what you think is the right spelling and it's not. I now ask how they spell their name and they assume that I'm joking.

i love old fashioned or unique names. And my 20 month old got both. I chose Violet for her first name and her father chose Freyja for the middle. I used this site when i was looking up older victorian names. Maybe you'll find it useful too.

My eldest daughter is named Sionna (pronounced Shawna). It's an old gaelic name that i can't even find in any baby books or name sites.
