J/W, this next time around I'm hoping for a little girl and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for traditional names?

I LOVE Kathryn but that name has been taken. I like Cassandra as well.

Christina

Alexandra

Elizabeth

All taken!

I love very feminine sounding girls names. Very pretty

My Son's name is Zackary. When I was pregnant with him, if he were a girl she would of been called Madeleine (Husband doesn't like it anymore, lol)

Any ideas?

I'm enjoying looking at all the names. Because our daughters are adopted, we wanted to include names that honored both their birthfamilies and our family. We have Olivia Caroline Elizabeth and Sophia Emily Jane. They will probably curse us for giving them three names, but we like how they sound!

It's always hard to agree on names, and simple and traditional are definitely my choice. My son is Zac, if he had been a girl he would have been Amy Margaret, however, by the time we had our daughter we didn't like Amy, so we decided on Emma Margaret. Charli, Elizabeth and Emily are also names I like. If you really love the names you have listed above can you not speak to the people that have them - some people consider it a compliment if you use the same name!

I often get comments on my daughter's old-fashioned name: Dorothy . . . named after a great-aunt. My name, Beverly, is a little old-fashioned too. Good luck!

My daughters name is Ellen after her great-grandmother. My middle name is Catherine. Obviously, I'm partial but I love Ellen. Before she was born everyone tried to convince us to call her Ellie, but Ellen suits her.

I have an Ava Scarlett and a Molly Claire...I also love older names. A couple that I haven't see anyone else mention are Claudia and Charlotte (I have a cousin named Charlotte, and everyone calls her Charly for short...I love that). Also, sometimes a double name can be pretty...one that I've heard and love is Mary Grace.

I love old fashioned names...you can look at it and immediately know how to pronounce it. Here are the girls names in my family, I hope these help:
Susan Carol
Kimberly Sue
Christine Ann
Laura Lynn
Laura Christine
Emily Diana
and Abigail Rose
Other family favorites are Ruth, Stephanie, Rachael, McKenzie, Sandra, Audrey
If you're still having trouble, look back in your family tree or in your nationality. There are names there that might have been the fashion at the time, but to us they might be really old-fashioned
Like in my nationalities, favorites are Molly, Heather, Victoria, Margaret, Marguerite, Marie, Fiona

My 2nd daughter is named after her 8th-great grandma: Anna Catharina. My oldest has her grandma's middle name: Josephine. Try looking into your own family tree for "old" names. They will have more meaning.

Look up your family tree. I think the best traditional and old fashioned girls names are ones that have meaning. One point, though --- I have an "Abby" which when I named her, no one was Abby, but now it's common again. Anyway, I do wish (and she wishes) her name was Abigail or some name that was common enough, with a common spelling, so that her name was actually on all those knick knacks stores sell. I think if you go with a unique name, it's fine... However, if you go with a classic name, go with the classic spelling.
