Hello, unfortunately the flu season is amongst all of us. Is one vaccine better than the other? My daughter in the past has had influenza as well as H1N1. It is only for the best that our family chooses to vaccinate. I just don't know if one is better than the other? Thanks for your input! :)

I've gotten the nasal spray 2 years in a row and had no problems.

Oh, wow. That sounds like my little girl. Although, her doc has never said it was asthma. We were told she was too young to diagnose? We'll see. She'll usually get sick, then very sick, and almost always in the ER or admitted... It's so frustrating!

My son has asthma and if he gets sick it always attacks his lungs. So hence why we are so diligent about getting his flu shot.

From the sounds of it the nasal has many more side effects. I can only assume my daughter is also "high risk" too, Sherri. We actually are taking her to the University of Michigan this week to see a Pediatric Pulmonologist for respiratory issues that always seem to arise in the fall. Maybe this specialist will advise us on which one is better, too.
I honestly think it's safe to say we all (my family) should just go with the shot. My original thought was it would be easier on the kids to just get the spray and not the whole "shot" ordeal.

The pediatrician told us the shot is better hence why it isn't an option for my oldest who is high risk. He has to have the shot.

I've also heard the nasal one can have more side effects. The doctor of flu clinic will give you the one that's best for you. My children have always gotten the shot. Only my hubby and I were given the nasal

Thanks for that info. I was unaware of the immune system factor. That will play a big role in our decision... look's like we'll go ahead with the shot. Thanks Brittany!

I've heard that the nasal can have harsher side effects for those with poor immune systems, but is more ideal for those with heathly and strong immune systems. Every time my SIL has gotten the nasel she got really sick (it is an active virus unlike the shot).
But again the shot is cultured in latex, so it isn't ideal for anyone who has a sensitivity to it.
