Hi there,

I used the Peanut Shell sling w/ my 1st baby, & I liked it ok. It was a little hard to get her in & out of. I'm due w/ my 2nd baby in November & I've been shopping around for a new sling. What have you moms used & liked, or disliked, for that matter? I've been checking out Balboa Baby, New Native, Moby wrap, Baby Ktan. Also, has anyone used or heard reviews on the Chicco front carrier? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you & take care!

We used an Ergo and an EllaRoo Wrap (like the Moby, but different fabric) and loved both. Either of those is a good investment.

I loved my mei tai. Easy to put on and take off and very comfy.

I highly recommend the Ergo carrier. It is the only carrier/sling that I know of that can be used for children from birth up to 40 lbs. We originally got it for use with our 1 1/2 year old when we were out and he got tired walking. We used it until he was about 3 1/2 for trips to Disneyland, etc. when he got too tired to walk. And now we are starting to use it with our second child, a newborn. It is super comfortable to wear and the only carrier that will last so long. We also have tried the New Native, Baby Bjorn and Moby carriers. They all have their advantages at different ages. But for versatility and long-term investmnet-- if you just want to buy one carrier-- I definitely recommend the Ergo.

In my opinion The Maya Wrap is one of the Best. I used it until my daughter was 2 yrs old

I have an ergo and like it a lot. You want a carrier where their legs are spread out and their weight is more on their bottom then having their legs dangling down straight like in a bjorn. There are a lot of good ones out there!

I loved my Moby wrap! It was so comfortable- no buckles, plastic, or fancy extras, just comfy cotton. It fits any figure- I'm larger, and it was such a lifesaver carrying the baby in it while doing other things. I think it's why baby #2 was so much less fussy than #1!! also, it wasn't all garish and gaudy with prints.

I used a snugli, my mom got it for me, like 20 bucks. When she was a newborn, I only used it for dishes when she had to be held :) But in two weeks I'm using it to travel to Florida (by plane, not in a car ;) ) She likes it a lot more now that she can hold her head up and look around :) She also enjoys kicking her feet

This is the one I swear by. My sister has a sling and a couple of carriers. I found the homemade one was the most secure and the most comfortable for baby and me. Plus for the cost you can have a ton of different colours, thicknesses and patterns for the cost of one of those other slings/wraps.

I have owned a few carriers and by far I love the Beco Baby Carrier the best. Very comfortable and husband friendly. Can carry a child up to 40 pounds front or back carry.

Hey, I used a sling that was a heavy cotton, so it was strong, but also breathed well. It also had a ring fastener on it so it was a little easier to use than a Peanut Shell. I can't for the life of me remember where I got it 4 years ago, it was online, mama something, and it cost $60. Well worth it, just don't let anyone barrow it, that's how I lost mine. I also like front carriers with a cross strap for short term activities. I wanted to try the hip sling for when they get to the hip phase. I just never got around to it. Hope this has helped. Take care and congrats on your upcoming little luv.

Ergo!!! They are the best, can be used from birth (using an insert) right up to pre-school! It's the most comfortable carrier and baby can be worn on the front or the back. It has a hood to cover the baby when it sleeps or for feeding. I use my all the time, especially in the supermarket to feed my 1yr old. And my 3.5yr old still loves going in it on my back. SO worth the money and very easy to get bub in and out of. Good luck!

I used and highly recommend the moby wrap. It's a little awkward to get baby in and out of but very comfy for you and baby. I also had the baby bjorn w/ lumbar support carrier but preferred using the moby wrap over it. My back didn't hurt at all with the moby wrap, I like it, like it, like it!!!!!!

I had an unpadded ring sling (like a Maya, but it was homemade by a friend) and loved it; an Over the Shoulder Baby Holder (padded sling) which always seemed to be too big for me and too big for the baby (ended up giving it to a slightly heftier friend, who loved it); and an old Baby Trekker, which was ugly and bulky but very, very comfortable. I think it's a very personal thing ... almost all my friends have used slings or carriers, but everybody liked something different...

I use a MamaRoo style sling. It's pretty good, and it's versatile. There are even instructions on the website for making and wearing it.

I used a Snugli and still do for my 5 month old son. I tried a sling and he hated it. In his Snugli he can face towards or away from me, he still prefers facing me :0). There's this brand of slings caled Hot Slings, found at Babies R Us, I've heard they're great but once again my son prefers the carrier.

I used the Baby Bjorn (with lumbar support) with my first and found it very comfortable to wear and my little man liked being in it and fell asleep all the time!! I found it very useful to do the groceries, hang out washing and taking the dog down to the dog park. I'm looking forwarding to using it again when my second is born in February. Hope this helps

I used a front carrier a few times, but again its a 2 person job to get them in and out of it. My little girl only slept in the sling once, so I guess I am not much help, but I would go with what you know and trust.
