Hey everyone...I'm just starting to look in to part-time pre-school for my 2.5-year-old Ava (2 mornings a week). I have no frame of reference at all for what's reasonable & what's not (price-wise). If anyone can help me out here I'd appreciate it! Thanks. (BTW...I live in Florida. I'm sure each region varies)

I work in a daycare which is also a pre-school. We have a routine that we follow and certain things we have to do in a day. We have themes that we follow, outside time, crafts, circle, etc. We work in partnership with the kindergarten class across the hall. Our fees are $27.50 for a full day and that includes 2 snacks and lunch. Which is all made by our cook.

When my boys went to preschool at the age of 3 1/2, I paid $105 per month for three days a week, three hours per day. I hope that helps!

I am not a big fan of Montessori either. But the thing I ran into when I had my first and I was looking at preschools is that a lot of them are also daycares. And I didn't need to take my kid to day care so I didn't want him taking naps there or anything like that. I wanted my money used solely for teaching him and giving him the structure of a school setting. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks Libby. I don't think this is a day-care...its strictly a pre-school. They've got great ratings, on-line any way. Its not Montessori, or anything, but I'm not a big fan of the Montessori curriculum...I'm new in this area, so I don't really have a great referral base. Also, its at a JCC, & there aren't a lot of Jewish people around here that I know either! Its so frustrating!

Oh and I must say, we go to a school that has a high reputation, has been in business for 40 years, is at a church, is NOT a day care, and is a private school (not a school that the people who get daycare assistance go to). Whenever I tell people where my children have gone they always say they hear good things about that school. So, definetly go with some word of mouth referrals when picking a good school.

Wow! That's a great price...never even considered an in-home pre-school!

I live in Las Vegas. Our pre-school across the street charges $100/week for 16 hours/wk.
I am a stay at home mom with 3 toddlers and can't afford this price. I found in-home pre-school for my 3 yr old son. Twice a week, 2.5 hrs a day with snacks, $85/month. They learn one letter, one number a day and shapes, colors & etc. There are 6 kids in the group and my son loves his teacher!

We're looking at the local JCC....problem is, I don't know what's reasonable & what's not, you know? They want to charge $239/month for a t/th 9-12 class + $83/month for the JCC membership (includes all the perks, Gym, pool, drop in child care while I work out, parenting center, etc...). So basically $322 a month when all said and done! Plus almost $300 in sign-up fees. It sounds like a lot to me, but I'm so ignorant about these things!

I live in Ohio. My boys both went to the same preschool at ages 3 & 4. I think for 3 days a week from 9a-11:30am it was $125 a month. They provided a snack.

I live in chicago, my daughter attends a fabulous day care that she loves! she goes full time, but if she were to only go 2 days a week it would be about $100 a week. I am sure it varies by region, but you should never have to pay more then $50 a day for day care. If anyone trys to charge more you child better come home from that school riding a uni-cycle, reading the dictionary while juggleing swords. :)
