Normally being an easy going person not much tends to bother me but as of late I have become very annoyed, angry and what ever else about the pension. I am a believer that yes if you need the help then that is what it is there for.
Becoming closer to a few people in my life recently has shown me just how unfair the pension can be for the working mothers in society.
Three women all with a child are on the pension, each has there own scenerio. The first is 17, has a one year old daughter and is due to have her second in a couple of weeks. Her boyfriend is not working, they are both on the pension. She puts her 1 yo in day care 1 to 2 times a week which costs her $15 for the day, with nappies and food included. She only pays half rent. Her Dr fees are covered by her pension.. etc you can see what i am getting at.
The second woman is 17 with a 3 month old boy, they just moved out of her parents with her boyfriend who does not have a job and again they are both on the pension with discounts on almost everything. She gets nearlly $400 one week and the following week its about $300 he is on about $350 a fortnight.
The third lady is 21, she has a 7 month old, her husband works and they live in a rental. She gets a disability pension, although not actually being disabled?? she has learning dificulties but nothing that stops her from day to day things.
I work 20 hrs a week, am the full time carer of my daughter as her dad has a full time job, we pay a mortgage and car repayments as well as all the insurance and everything else that comes with it. I am 21 weeks pregnant and have to pay for my dr fees unless I want to see the hospital every check up I need. If I had to put my daughter in to daycare for one day it would cost me $75.
The point I am getting at is why do people who don't want to put in the effort get every thing handed to them on a silver platter but those of us who work our bottoms off to have the best for our children aren't given any form of support?
Do you think this is fair? (sorry for the rant)
