Pet Peeve lately with kids not saying thankyou when given a gift! What about you?

Really having an issue with nieces and nephews not saying "thank you" for gifts they receive for b'days or Christmas. I know it all comes down to parenting but what's up with the parents not holding them responsible?!! Sometimes they're are in the same room and open it and still can't say thanks. Other times it is mailed and you never know if it even arrived because you never hear anything! I have one friend who says their child is not allowed to spend the money or play with the gift until a thank you is written. I think that is great! All of these kids are now teens so I am not talking about toddlers here. Are you guys seeing this?

I agree. The first thing I teach my kids is to use their manners. My 2yo daughter is the funniest though. When she really loves what she has been given she clasps her hands in front of her and says "Tank you berry much" I also get "Tank you, tank you Mummy" quite often. The look of gratitude is just priceless.



I also love getting compliments about the way all 3 of mine use their manners. It's a proud Mummy moment for me.
