My son is almost 6 months old and my frist questions is i read now that he's eating food he has to drink water to help digest it and help out his kidney's i was just wondering if anyone knew the correct amount that he needs a day and another thing was how much is he ment to be eating a day? Like does he have 4 solids feeds a day and how much? Like a full jar?? And the last thing was when he was 2 months old he started sleeping throught the night and now within the last month he's stoped and it seems to be getting worse like he went from sleeping through to having one feed and now he's demanding 2 feeds a night.. And lucky last is he isn't interested in his bottles anymore.. He just doesnt want to drink them he seems to much rather be eating but i read that when he's this age your not ment to be replacing his bottles.. Few dilema's lol!

My baby is 6 months old and was told the feeding is justfor experiment w taste. I haven't been told to give my baby water yet. I only give her bottles through the day and she gets cereal and fruit in the am and a fruit and veggies at night. I guess every dr is going to tell you different though. so it just depends on how you want to do things.

Yeah today i put fruit gel in with some water and he loved that so i think i just discovered how to get him to drink water lol! Or i might try some diluted juice.. Much cheaper than fruit gel lol! I think with the farax (Rice cereal) I might just put some in his night solids so he gets abit fuller!

I am assuming that farax is the same thing as baby cereal, you can't put too much in the bottle because it will be too thick to suck out. I would just experiment and start with a few tablespoons. You can put 1/2 a jar or so of actual baby food in the bottle. Peaches and sweet potatoes work well because they are pureed with no chunks...the bottle wont get clogged.

well a cup of watter will do him for the day and with the food it realy depends on your child wether he wants more food or not, but if u feel he needs mor food then u can give him more. but he is older enough to have breakfast lunch and tea and u could try giving him a biscut in between meals if u want. but he will let u know if he is still hungy or not.

Hopefully I can help...He doesn't need to be drinking water necessarily. The fluid (water) he gets from either breastmilk or the water mixed in with formula is plenty you don't need to supplement extra in but you can give him some in a sippy cup for practice the water obviously wont hurt him.

Typically at 6 months babies should have two feedings per day of "solid" foods/ baby food. How much he consumes at these two feedings is up to him... some babies can eat 1/2 a jar to 2 full jars of food. He will give you signs when he is done eating and full.

As far as the sleeping goes at about six months babies go through a big growth spurt so he may need the extra bottle??? Both of mine did and did not become dependent on the extra feedings long term. Do you try to feed solids close to bed time? If not already try this it may fill his belly up a little more and he may sleep longer or not wake up. We mix baby cereal (rice kind) into our little one's baby food it makes it a little thicker which is easier to feed, gets them use to thicker textures closer to table food, and keeps their bellies a little fuller than just the food alone. He may also just be enjoying the extra attention at night???

You may try different sippy cups if he isn't interested in the bottle? It is a little early but he may take it better than the bottle, and your right you aren't supposed to replace food for bottles so you may have to get creative. What if you mixed a little baby food in with his milk maybe he would take it better that way? If you did I would still suggest feeding him solids by spoon also so he learns how to eat that way and also experiences different textures. I hope this helps some.

At 6 months baby's still need at least 4 bottles so it really up the to you how much they eat during the day, all you can really do is trial and error... he will let you know when he has had enough and he'll let you know when he ants it as well. It's just a matter of listening to him.... as for the not sleeping he may be teething.. my daughter in 6 months and 1 week and she has just started to break her first tooth... as for the not wanting bottles try and put something like farax mixed in with his milk when he had his bottles, all it does is make the milk thicker, almost like cereal... good luck
