My daughter developed a crazy rash last night, we went to a new pediatrician today(hate him already)...she has 5th disease & is very itchy. I went to fill the prescription the doctor wrote for her & they don't make it in that dose anymore so the pharmacist can't do anything until tomorrow until he talks to our new quack doctor ;). We tried putting hydrocortisone cream on her but it burned & she cried for 30 minutes...it did help but I can't let her suffer through the intense burning just to get some relief. So now we are on to children's benadryl(oral) and I don't remember the dose for her weight (since it doesn't recommend giving to children under 4 years old. & it's been a while since we've had to give it to her). She'll be 4 April 6th & weighs 38 pounds. We are about to give her an oatmeal bath as well. So, if anyone knows the dosage please let me know. My princess needs some rest & relief as she got none of either last night.

Hi... I don't know the dosing formula but wanted to suggest Benadryl cream for the itching. I hope your princess is feeling better soon!

See the internet, many sites for dosage. One from Texas children's hospital suggests 1 tsp(5mL) for a 12.5mg dose for a child over 33 pounds but under 44 pounds. Also, try some plain vaseline after her bath and baggies of frozen vegatables to decrease swelling and itching. Hope she feels better soon.
