Please help my 9 month will not have any thing to do with 8 month baby food

I have a 9 month old that will only eat 6 month baby food. I have offerd every kind i can get my hand's on in the store's of 8 month baby food and made my own. But nothing seem's to work and i am getting worried that he will get to use to the 6 month food. I fear that he will not wont any thing to do with hole food's by the time he is one.Every time i have try to feed him 8 month baby food he choke's and gages the second it go's is to his mouth and cry's and fuss's in tell i stop so please help i an not sure what to do!!

I wanted to add that my son gagged on everything too for a period. Does your baby have teeth? He got his late and I think that's why he didn't really want solids very early on.

Hello. My son refused all food in a jar. The only real liquid type food he would eat at 9 months was organic yogurt. I went straight to finger foods that he could put in his mouth...... you can do very soft ripe fruits such as watermelon or cantaloupe (cut the size of his thumb nail and he can swallow them WHOLE if need be without choking) or slices of soft cheeses etc. I also had to give him those "puffs" which aren't very nutritious but it helped him learn how to eat crunchier foods and chew on them. It's probably a texture thing but I'd try some finger foods. Cottage cheese is another good thing my son would take. Give baby his own spoon to put in his mouth between bites! Good Luck.

I agree every child is different, don't worry, enjoy your child, before you know it they are off to school, and you wonder what you were worring about-honest my 2 were completly different and still are at 12 and 9 years.

don't worry too much about what age is written on the jar, every baby is different. my bubba was eating jars at 2 months and a 5 months now is eating jars for 6 month olds

Hi Bree,

have you tried finger food with him? My son is 10 months and only just eating some lumps but loves finger foods - slices of orange, bueberries, slices of cucumber etc- my daughter struggled with the change from soft food to lumps as well but is now 4 and fine - your son will be fine too - some-times takes them a bit longer.
