Maybe it takes time for your body to get back to its routine ,after you have had it removed not every body are the same .Try and relax you never know it might just happen .Good Luck to you both . from Eileen

i also had the implant when i had it removed i never got a period i was pregnant only a couple of weeks after having it removed i also took the test and it said negative i then took it a week later and it was positive. good luck.

Carla there is such thing as secondary infertility which basically means problems with conceiving the second time around. It just sounds like you're body is still adjusting to having the implant taken out.=]

That's true I've been taking them once a week for the last 2 months now - with my son i took a preg test when i was 4weeks along - the day i was due on - and it was pos, lol

FUNNY STORY! I did a pregnancy test a week before thinking I was pregnant, and it said I was not...I was so emotional, depressed, and wanting to divorce my husband the next week cause everything he did irritated me...told my mom and my mom told me to take a test. Yeah I was pregnant, although I argued that I took one the week before...so you NEVER know! :)

Right cool, I'm 22, and neither me or my husband has fertility problems, we don't need to go to the hospital about it, i was just trying to find out why i wasn't having my period and we wouldn't have a weekend away as will have our son, and wouldn't leave him,
We are not exactly trying either more like, if it happens then yay if not then never mind, we have very active sex life and dunno if i could slow it down even if i wanted too lol,
Yeah last time i had the implant out i came on normally and everything guess this time is just a little different,
I only get pain when i am due on i have all the cramping and that but just don't get anything else.

You can still ovulate without having a period, especially if it's in the first few months of being off a hormonal bc that stopped menstruation. Unless there is pain don't worry about it for at least another cycle or two. When I was on depo-provera I was warned I may not bleed for awhile but could still get pregnant after coming off it. I'm sure its the same with other implanted types.

Hi Carla! I live in the UK too =] I'm a little confused about you saying the docs won't see you until you've missed 3 periods - do you mean for the pain or for help with fertility? Just as where I live they won't do anything until you've been trying for 12 months if that's what you meant.



I have PCOS and when I came off the pill so we could start trying for our son my periods didn't return. I'd been on it since age 13 and was 18 when we started trying. After 12 months we were referred to a fertility clinic. They confirmed with tests that my husband had no problems it was just my PCOS. I still hadn't had my period so to do a HSG test to check if cysts were blocking my tubes they gave me a drug to induce a period. The test showed they weren't and I fell pregnant after that period. We'd been trying for 15 months when I finally concieved. We were told that whilst I wasn't having periods it is possible to ovulate without having one! I gave birth on 27th November 2009, aged 19 to a gorgeous son! He's one next week and the double of my husband!



Sometimes it can take a while for your body to adjust to not having the implant in, but you shouldn't be experiencing pain. Perhaps visit the doctor about that?

How old are you ,like one of the other Ladies say try to relax if you get your self all stressed.be positive slow down on your Love making for a month .bodies act in funny ways take time off have a weekend away .then try again in a months time or just go to the Hospital to get checked out not just you but your Husband as well .

Lol yeah i could do, I probably will wait till next month and if i still haven't had anything then make an appointment with the doc, last time i had my implant out i came on like normal and then 3months later was pregnant, maybe this time will just be different, i just mainly hope that i do come on and then i still have a chance of having a second baby x

And just because a pregnancy test is negative don't mean shit, lol. I tested negative before I got married and two weeks after went for my regular check-up and found out I was almost 8 weeks!!! My periods were never regular and I was on bc so it never even crossed my mind. Maybe trick the doc and say, look, I haven't had my period, but I tested positive and want to see if I am pregnant. Maybe that could get you in and if you are in fact not, say well, where's my period then. Gotta trick em, lol.

My doctor told me that usually you will start right back up, but if you had problems with a normal cycle before, those problems could still exist after it is removed. I would just keep trying and not freak too much. If you aren't in any pain or not having any adverse affects, I would not stress too much about it cause that will only make it worse.

When i came off the implant i was told it can take a few months for your body to right itself and for you to have a true period, the same as with the injection and pill. When you are on contraception you don't have a true period.

The doc told me to use condoms for the first 3 months after coming off conraception then to start trying. I hope this helps try not to stress out as it will only make things worse x

sometimes aspirin will make you start. I also understand that it can take a few months to start getting your monthly again after not having one from birth control.

Sometimes your cycle can get really stuffed up by hormonal birth control or other factors like stress so not always.

Oh my point was just that the tests being negative doesn't mean much, I'd still go to the doctor to see what's going on.

The egg dies within 24 hours of not being fertilized and becomes the corpus luteum which produces progestrone which causes the lining of the uterus to prepare for implantation even though there may or may not be a blastocyst to implant. 2 weeks after implantation is not established the corpus luteum involutes causing a drop in estrogen and progestrone which make the uterus shed it's lining + the unfertilized egg.

I always thought that the period is the linning breaking down because the egg wasn't fertilized and what happens to the egg that didn't get fertilized? x

I stopped taking the pill after 15 years solid and did not get a period for 13 months. This does not matter however as my gyne told me that you do not need a period to become pregnant. The only thing a period is good for is predicting ovulation and due dates. If you are worrid then have some blood work done to check on hormone levels. Mine were completley normal but no period. I did fall pregnant whithout periods but lost that baby due to an undiagnosed blood disorder that prevented the placenta working properly. This was nothing to do with periods and was easily treated with daily aispirin. If your worrid get checked out.

A negative test doesn't mean you aren't pregnant either. It may be that your hormones are too low to be detected with a home test.

However, having said that, it may also just be your body readjusting following the removal of the implant. I've never had an implant, so I have no idea what you should expect with that.

Having said that, though, you shouldn't be in pain. When are you experiencing pain? All the time?

You may just have to wait until you have missed your 3rd period and then see the doctor.

Yeah I defiantly know I'm not pregnant as i took a test last week and it was neg,
So could i of still ovulated this month? I enjoy my husband and we've never felt like "doing the job" lol I just wanna know what's up with my body and stop thinking I'm pregnant when I'm not lol

Missing a period doesn't mean you haven't ovulated. Generally you ovulate first and THEN menstruate only if the egg is not fertilised. How do you know you are definitely not pregnant?

Bodies react differently to stresses in life and it is my understanding that a woman's period can be delayed after stopping various forms of contraception. Your doctor doesn't seem too concerned at this moment and I think you should take your queues from the professional. Relax! The stress of undue worry could be playing a part in your inability to conceive. Have a bit of patience by waiting one more month before seeing the doctor. In the meantime, have fun "trying" with your husband! Enjoy each other's company, be romantic, be silly, be playful and try not to focus on the "job" of getting pregnant. A lot can happen in that month and who knows, you may be seeing the doctor because you are finally expecting! Positive thoughts for you and your husband and good luck!
