I have had night sweats from the 8th month of pregnancy until now. My son is now 4 weeks old and I all of a sudden am irritable, impatient, crying a lot about stupid things (very unlike me). My son (second one by the way) has just now gotten baby acne all over. Do all these symptoms link together somehow?

If it is PPD what does one do about it?

I did not have this with my first child so I am not familiar with it.

It is pretty common for newborns to get baby acne flair up around 4 weeks that lasts until around 8 weeks as hormones work through both of your bodies. I would concur with a few of the other replies that lack of sleep hormones can cause what you described. I had pretty serious postpartum depression with my first child that hit after 18 month because my daughter is very independent and I felt a bit lost without my 'baby' needing me anymore. I would focus on trying to get as much sleep as possible and start talking walks for some exercise and see if that helps out. If not definately talk to you OB because if it is depression you don't want it to go unchecked.

I finally went to see my doctor about Depression when my daughter (second child) was 12 months old, after my family was concerned with my moods, fatigued, and general sadness. Just talking seemed like too much work on some days. I feel much better now, and have been on anti-depressants since then. My daugher is now 2 and 1/2.

Yes, I do think it's more baby blues and simply the stress of not having much help. I do not have any hate feelings or such towards our baby.

Could be just the baby blue's, which is very common and much more mild than PPD. I had the baby blue's, and was very weepy and emotional. But that is normal and nothing to really worry about. My friend had the full-blown PPD and had to get on antidepressants because she was ready to give up her baby, and just leave town. She would call me up in a panic and in tears telling me she didn't want him at all and didn't care that he was crying.

PPD is very serious, and if you think that you might have it, please talk to your doctor/nurse or anyone and get help immediately. My friend got help, and now she is so in love with her son, she can't imagine life without him.

A friend of mine had PPD and her doctor told her that it can start anytime from the birth to up to 18months after the birth, so it's definately a possibility for you. I had night sweats after the birth of my baby until she was about 3 months old and was told that it was more to do with crazy hormones - especially if you're breastfeeding - than anything else. It could be PPD that you are experiencing but you could just be very understandably exhausted after birth, having a newborn and also dealing with another child. I would talk to a doctor or baby clinic nurse or maybe you could contact the hospital where you had your baby, if you got to know any of the midwives or if you think they could be helpful. You would probably be better talking to someone even if you aren't sure if you have it or not so that at least you can be sure you are doing the best for yourself and your baby and aren't making things harder for yourself than they have to be. And if you are just really really tired and emotional I hope you can get some help from friends and family and get some relaxing time soon.
