So my son (19 months) gets what to do on the potty he has peed a few times but nothing concistent. I really want to attempt to get him potty trained some what early. Even tho people keep telling me when hes ready hes ready. So tonight he sat on the potty didn't do a thing i wen to put a diaper on him and he freaked. I wrestled with him and finally got one on. Before bath we sat on the potty nothing i get the "mommy no lik, no like". After his bath he dried off and ran out of the room and once again refused to put a diaper on. Should I try training pants? or should i just wait till "hes ready". His father puts very little effort into helping me. When he comes home from his fathers he usually comes home with a diaper rash. So im hoping if i can get him potty trained he wont have to suffer with a rash. Because when hes will me i end up covering his but with desiten. He goes with his dad sundays and tuesdays and mondays and wed i gotta cover him with desiten and i feel horrible. Any suggestions? pls help

OH! Vincent got it! I didn't dress him bottoms down. So no diaper. And he played and played and got what the potty chair was for. But he peed in his dump truck he was driving and that kinda sold him on using the potty. So funny. "mommy there is a puddle in dumpy." Me, " No, you pee'd in him!" Do basically taking away the diaper worked for us. When it was warm and during the day. He kept the overnights for awhile. Good luck!

My daughter fought us for 6 months on using the potty. We finally took away the diapers completely and made a big deal out of going and buying her big girl panties we let her pick out herself and her own potty seat. We bought bubbles (because she loves them) and told her whenever she goes potty she gets bubbles. As soon as she's "all empty" but still sitting on the potty we blow some bubbles for her. My nephew likes stickers so his mom uses a sticker chart for him when he goes. Her wearing big girl panties seemed to help the most though because she could actually tell she was wet or dirty. She was wearing pull ups to bed though until she started waking up dry everytime.
