My son is almost 3 1/2 years old and we can still not get him potty trained. We have tried bribery (buy a new toy or favorite candy, put it where he can see it but not touch it, don't give it to him until uses potty), we have tried punishment (time outs or a smack on the behind when he wets/poops his pants), we've tried the "take him every half hour" strategy, the "reward him for staying dry" strategy, the "tell him he can't go to school like the other big boys" strategy. NOTHING WORKS!!! He yells and fights me and cries when I make him sit on the potty and I just don't know what to do! When he does sit on the potty he will hold it for the 5-15 minutes I make him sit, then get up and pee/poop his pants. We've tried teaching him to stand and "aim at cheerios" and we've also tried the "sit and hold your pee-pee down" but he doesn't like either method. My husband and I are just so frustrated. Please, anyone, is there a technique we haven't tried already that will work? I will try just about anything! (And FYI, he has been wearing underwear for weeks and the "wet/poopy feeling" doesn't bother him at all) Thank you for your help!
