Hey so I had Kiyo December 18th and I lost a lot of the weight then gained it all back and then some:( I'm working my butt off but don't know what to do.

I have dr appointment Thursday and I'm hoping they can help, but what did you do? And how long did it take to get back to your pre pregnancy weight?

Okay, I am jealous of all of you that gained like, nothing! I went from a twig to a beached whale, I gained like 80 lbs even though I ran about 6 miles every day up to the 6 month point (I was and am a runner) then elliptical-ed for an hour a day up until the day I gave birth. I am 6 lbs heavier than I was before my baby but it took almost a year to come off.
I figure it this way...the baby needed the cushioning and protection and she got it. Staying active gave me a (thank you God) short 2 hour labor.
It will come off. But even if it does not, you are beautiful.

Weight Watchers. I can't recommend it enough. Not only do you learn how to drop weight slowly and keep it off, you have a huge support system, which is especially nice as a new mom. Find a meeting near you.

Deborah, try not to beat yourself up - 4 babies is alot of work! Just don't give up. I am 10 years out after my 2nd and 3rd were full term twins c-section. I was the size of a house. All belly. I worked out alot when they were babies and walked and all and people still thought I was pregnant-ouch. Could not seem to rein in the belly.
I never felt full I was so stretched out and busy/stressed. I refuse to give up - If I can't be "razor" thin again I intend to at least be healthy and strong and a good example to my daughters!!

i'm on a great product & it really does work. i've lost a bit more than 10cm's in 5 wks. it's really easy 2 do. do diet's, shake's & still eat real food. 2 scoop's twice a day in any drink u want. here's the web site: www.weightlosszone.com.au/stronger. i've got 5 kid's & my youngest is 14 mths. so what's the harm in checking it out? tell all your friend's.

I would like to point out that even when you eat healthy during a pregnancy doesn't mean you won't gain more weight than planned. I gained about 45, but I was also underweight before I got pregnant. My child is almost 6 months and I have lost most of the weight, half of it came off really quick (it was the water weight mostly) then this last bit is coming off really slow, but I guess that is good b/c most likely it will stay off. Just try your hardest and it will happen. Good luck!

Are you nursing? I nursed both my kids for a year and my youngest is now 18mos and I still have a few pounds to lose. If you're nursing, it's not always healthy for your body to go back to it's pre-pregnancy size. Your body will automatically store a little extra fat so that it can be sure that it will always be able to take care of your baby. It's just a way to keep you and your baby healthy.

It actually took me two to three months after I had my little girl to go back to my pre preg weight even though I didn't want too. I actually wanted to keep some of the weight I put on with her because I always consider myself way to skinny for my own good. Now two years after her birth I am happy to be back up a few pounds from my pre preg weight.

it took me about 5 months to get down to the weight i was at pre baby, i had a c-section also which made it harder. my sister in law got right back to her pre weight in 2 weeks! so did my sister and my cousins wife! i felt like a fat cow for so long! im still not entirely happy with the way i look but its getting there and my daughter is almost 9 months.

I have had 2 kids. I gained over 50 pounds with the first... lost about 30 of it and gained that back with my second pregnancy. I've been eating healthier and working out for over a year (my youngest daughter is almost 2 now) and I'm still 15 pounds heavier than before kids. For most of us, our bodies are never the same after. Just do what you can, try to have realistic expectations, and remember your kids love you whether you are heavier than you used to be or not. Good luck!!!

Do you run at all? That is a great way to lose any extra weight! If you're not a runner it takes a little while to really get into, but it does wonders. I was 175 when my son was born and I got down to about 130 within 8 months of having him. It's hard to get motivated to go out and run if you try to do it on your own and weren't a runner to start, but if you're interested in trying it then send me a message and I can give you a bunch of information on how to start and different kind of support groups, for lack of a better term, to get you going on it!

its probably the combo of the birth control and anti depressants that caused the weight to come back. I gained ALOT during each of my 4 pregnancies and returned to at or below pre-pregnancy weight within 8 months of each. ( I weight 115 and with my 1st baby I weighed 196 at delivery.. no toxemia..) To lose my weight with each, I ate all day long! every three hours. I didnt count calories or carbs i counted fat grams. Lots of whole grains, fresh fruits, veggies, lean white meats, low fat sweet treats, ate my last meal by 4pm, and only fresh fruit for snacks after 4. I think I gained so much weight during pregnancy because my metabolism dropped. Each pregnancy I gained at 50-70lbs. Once I got back to where I wanted to be, I maintain by watching my sugar intake, eating mainly seafood and white meat, choosing low fat versions of cheeses and condements.. avoiding white sauses.. and controlling my portions.

Well, my prepregnancy weight was 56kg. When I had my boy I was 75(165 pnds). I lost then 12 kg(that is about 26 pnds) For a year I did not move at all. From march I startet this diet http://www.dukandiet.co.uk/. I know girls on the diet, having contraception and loosing weight. See your doctor and change the pill. At this moment I am 55kg(121,25 pounds) & I feel great. My DH lost 44pounds for 2months(men reduce faster &easier). Eat healthy, drink at least 1,5 liter water, walk... Dont take any weigth control medications. I had homeopathy for my postnatal depresion(it is natural). Just change your attitude toward food and feeding. You body is a "temple" for your soul- take good care of it. :)

Don't stress about it. Reading a bit further on in the comments, I see that you're taking some medication. If you can, stop the non-birth control (only if you're sure you're ready to stop it though!). Drink a load of water, try to watch portions, move each day - cardio is huge. HOWEVER - keep in mind that your hormone fluctuation can affect your weight, as can post-baby lifestyle. If you aren't nursing, you can ramp up the workouts even more, doing light toning (light weight, lots of reps) 3-5 times each week, and if you can get cardio in each day, do it. I have 3 kids that are 3, 2 1/2, and 8 weeks. I was lucky to have not gained a lot during this last pregnancy, but am still looking at 30+ pounds that need to come off. Anything that gets your heart pumping and your lungs working hard is good cardio - so count housework, stair climbing and things you do each day, but try really hard to get out and walk, bike, run...I do jumping jacks and jump rope when I can't get away due to my husband's work schedule. I run our stairs, and am focusing on eating less.

Hope your doc helped out!

Good luck!

I had the same problem after having my first child. I found out that my thyroid had completely shut down. I'm now on Synthroid and once it got balanced out I lost all the weight again. Have the doctors check your T4 and TSH levels and you might find that you are in the same boat.

Remember if you are working out muscle weighs more than fat so if you look good and your clothing fits....the number doesn't matter! My baby was born Dec 18th also and I have lost all the baby weight and then some...but I also went through a horrible hernia surgery 8 weeks after my baby was born. I don't recommend that to anyone :) Anyway keep up the good work and Congratulations on your baby.

I do weight watchers on my own! No meetings, weigh-ins or any of that. Just me, the weight watcher books, my scale, and my Jilian Michaels 30 day shred dvd. I finally started taking it all seriously and I have lost 32 lbs. Other people do notice your weight loss before you simply because we look at ourselves everyday! It worked for me (weight watchers flex plan) because I could still eat all my favs it just teaches you better control and portions. Good luck!

Same happened here. I lost a bunch of the baby weight real quick and then gained most of it back. It's been a year now since I have had my son and I am only 2 pounds off from my pre-pregnancy weight. I didn't actually start my diet until February of this year and have lost almost 20 lbs. It's called Extreme Fat Smash Diet by Dr. Ian Smith. It is a super healthy diet, you don't starve yourself, but it's probably a huge food change than what you may be used to. Going on this diet with my friend also helped my stay on track. We both lost 8 lbs within the 1st week and the pounds just kept coming off.

She also said the birth control I'm on won't make me gain weight either and if I do it's like 5 pounds but you lose it. I was 203 on the 26th of April and now I'm 193 so it's going but not as fast as I want haha

With my first child, i had lost all baby weight by 6 weeks post-partum. This time around, our son is now 6 weeks old, and I still have 9 pounds to go. I am starting running hopefully tomorrow, but for sure next week. As someone with a degree in sports medicine and nutrition, you really have to watch what you eat. Although, if breast feeding, you need to consume 500 more calories a day than when you were pregnant, it also needs to be even healthier than when pregnant. Exercise is so important too.

Good luck!

I had my son November 17th. All I heard was "breastfeeding will help you lose the weight fast." (That's not the reason I chose to breastfeed, btw.) But I gained 50 lbs during pregnancy!!! EEEP! When my son was 10 weeks, I was at 150 lb. and that is 25 lbs more then normal. When I went in for my 5 week check up, I was 150 also. So breastfeeding to lose weight doesn't work for me. :( I really don't drink anything that isn't water, skim milk or coffee. I definitely have a problem eating sweets, but I know I don't overeat. I park far away from stores and carry my son (in his car seat) into the store before getting a cart. Now that the weather is nice, I have started walking with him up and down my block, about a 1/2 a mile, but the weight is still on. Some people said when they stopped breastfeeding the weight came off faster, so I guess I will have to wait and see. I don't plan on stopping breastfeeding for at least 6 months.

i'm at the same situation, i'm done have kids but trying to get at a weight that i am ok with, i've done the dieting but i always feel hungry and i like food! lol so the one thing i did for myself is buy a treadmill, have some good music and i walk for 20 min, cause you need the 20 min to warm up the muscles and it takes 20 min to get your body started, i've been trying quick trim and i seem to be stuck at 140lbs, i hate situps so i am always looking for something new and fun that keeps my interest cause i end up loosing my motivation, and my stomach looks like route 66, so i know its not helping you, but i just keep trying even if you dont run just walking on the treadmill is some kind of exercise and its a good stress reliever, or get out of the house take time for yourself and walk, good luck sorry i wasnt more help

I pre-prego weight was 140 lbs. It's been 9 weeks since I have had my little guy and I am now down to 150 lbs. I am happy at that weight tho because I fit into my old clothes, and am very comfortable. I still exercise on a regular basis and try to include my little guy. If you make exercise fun and enjoyable instead of just doing it to lose weight I think that you will see results faster.

Yah well I'm off the anti depressants now and I'm going in today to talk to my dr. I'm thinking of changing birth control because I mean I feel like it's ruining my life. I know it's just weight, but I've never been this big. I mean I don't have any pants that fit me and I'm going to have to go back to sweats. When I was pregnant I understood, but I'm not anymore. And like I said I've pretty much cut out everything junk food and soda unless it's like a once a month thing. My mom does weight watchers and it just didn't seem to help me. Thank you alllll so much for the advice:)

Take your measurements my dear. I had the same issue. I wasn't losing anymore weight so i did measurements and sure enough i was losing inches just not any weight. Muscle weighs more then fat. I want to say though, you are wasting your time doing all those sit ups right now. You are not back to the weight you want to be and therefore you will not tone up. You need to be at a healthy weight before any results in that aspect will appear. Ok so with my first i was back to my weight in 4 days, with my second it was 6 days. I gained back 10lbs since my second and i've managed to lose 5 of them but again i'm not losing weight just inches.
Pick up the 30 day shred by jillian michales, it really works! It is PACKED with interval training and the workout changes every 10days and they get a bit harder. Cut your portions down to half the size and drink water water water. Go to this site and use the calorie counter. It helps a lot!
Good luck!!

I did weight watchers and the weight came off pretty steady. It took about 5 months for me to get to prepregnancy weight now i wegh less then when I got pregnant. This is my third child. I was never able to get down to what i was before having my first because i was quite thin before having children, now i am well in the range of what i should be for my height.

I did weight watchers with my first, there is no better motivator than standing on a scale in front of strangers each week to find out if you lost any weight or if you gained! Heidi if you had lost the weight but gained it back when you started medication I would look at the meds your on. Birth control can be a HUGE contributor to why you are gaining so much I would look at the side effects! Also I would have the dr check your thyroid if you lost it quickly and gained it back just as fast. I love those who are being helpful by letting you know they left the hospital weighing less, I've just started using the treadmill to lose the weight from my second, good luck!

I seemed to keep at least 12lbs extra with me after each pregnancy as I ate for 3! So after 4th child I weighed 50lb heavier!
The advice given already is sound. Eat healthily and keep active throughout your life, before, during and after pregnancy. A little self control is needed. Hopefully you wont end up like me - fat, lazy and still making excuses for being greedy. I cant blame it on baby fat, it was nearly 10yrs ago.
Anyone got a good motivator?

I'm so sorry I cant help you with this. I left the hospitol the after my daughter only 4 pounds heavier than before I got pregnant. I only gained 12 pounds with her. I kept it off but dont ask me how.
With my son I gained 15 pounds and left the hospitol weighting less than I did when I got pregnant.
However I have a friend who had 4 babies back to back and shes just now strting to loose the weight. After the 4 she was 95 pounds heavier than before her forst one. Shes using the shake diet which boosts your energy and metabolism and Alli. She says its expensive but well worth it. Shes lost 45 already in 4 months.

About a little over a month ago I buckled down and got to working and walked 8 miles a day, 40 sit ups in the morning then at night and a few others and I changed my diet but instead of losing I gained more weight than when I was pregnant.

Child #1 - 3 months
Child #2 - 2 weeks
Child #4 - 5 days
I never allowed myself to let my weight get out of control during pregnancy, I gained what I needed to have a healthy baby (15-20 pounds). The weight came off without any problem and stayed off. Eat healthy, drink lots of water, exercise, and breastfeed as much as Kiyo wants and the weight will come off in no time at all..

Eat healthy, drink loads of water, watch portion sizes, control snacks, and got moving. Rapid weight loss never sticks. Slow and steady, it rarely comes back. Think 9 months up, at least 9 months back down. The down will depend on how you delivered.
