Pregnancy Cold Relief?

Hey gals. I'm 24 weeks preggers and have this mad-horrible cold. Surely there has to be SOMETHING other than the neti-pot that can provide some relief! Help! Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks~

Run a steam humidifier maybe with some Vicks. Also try a nasal breathing strip.

Take lots of vit c, and run a humidifier in your room at night. It will at least help.

Unless you think it's a sinus infection there isn't much you can do. Prop yourself up in some pillows at night, hopefully it passes quickly.

I was given a list of over the counter drugs that could be taken at my first OB/GYN appointment. Sudafed decongestant, robitussin cough medicine, and antihistamines were listed. Check with your doctor's nurse as to what they recommend for a cold.

Hi. Yes, i too had a horrible 3 week cold when pregnant. I called my doctors office and there are definitely several over the counter items you can take. I even remember them writing me a prescription for robitussin with codeine when my cough got so bad I could not lie down without coughing and it would almost sound like whooping cough. I think I only took it at bed time for a few nights and started getting better. I can't remember which over the counter items except Tylenol but there were some cold remedies that were ok, you just had to make sure they did not have a certain ingredient. Give them a call, hope you feel better.

My OB suggested Sinutab when I had a head cold. Talk to your OB to see if it would be ok for you.

I would go to ur obgyn, and ask. Caz when I was 6 1/2 months I end up at the er with no vocie and a cold spent Xmas night in the er, so from one women to other go to ur Dr

Unfortunately, when preg. you are only able to treat symptoms. That is why it is always a good idea to keep current with the flu shot. What are your specific symptoms?

There is a line of safe effective herbal remedies formulated specifically for pregnancy by Wishgarden Herbs. For a head cold, saline drops.

For a chest cold, Vicks.

For both, a humidifier, lots of warm fluids, lots of rest.

Vicks on the bottom of your feet! Wear a pair of old socks overtop- because the Vicks will ruin them, since it's oil based. Worked like a charm for me.

My OB had me use Tylenol cold. It help and you might ask you OB but there are a list of other over the conter meds you can take.

Looks like I'd better invest in a humidifier ASAP! Thanks ladies! Who knew I'd miss that groggy cold medicine feeling I used to hate so much ;) O well.
