I had a tubal ligation 7 months ago. I don't want any more children. I would be devastated if I did become pregnant. I'm just wondering how many women have gotten pregnant after having one. Thanks!

I had my tubes tied almost 4 years ago and last Oct I found out I was pregnant, the reason I got my tubes ties was because my husband thought he was to old to start a family ( he was 40) I already had a daughter he said he loved as his own, so I had them tied, 3 years later I found out I was pregnant, so shocked and scared. Had part of my cervix removed before the tubal and was so scared if it wasn't a tubal could I carry the baby, wasn't a tubal and had a healthy baby girl. May 9th 2009 and she is now daddy's little girl, so much for starting to be a daddy at 43 : )

I had a tubal in 2003 and no kids since. Yes I had worried back when I had it done about getting pregnant you always hear on the news about some woman who got pregnant anyway. I'm 44 now and not too worried about it anymore.

My sister in law had her tubes tied 11 years ago and no more kids and she got pregnant any time her husband sneezed near her. :)

The chances of becoming pregnant are extremely slim after a tubal. It also depends on what method they used to do the tubal (coils, burning, clamping..). Mine we're burned and seperated during my 4th c-section, so it'd be impossible unless my eggs can jump.

A worry of mine as well. I had the operation where they clamp twice on each side and remove the section in the middle. There is a 1 in 1000 change of pregnancy. That seems really high to me and I'm very fertile so I hope I'm not "the 1".

Quoting Sharina:

I just had my sixth(one was for someone else) baby last December and had my tubes tied. Like you, I pray not to be pregnant ever again! I do have a question for you about it though. My monthy periods were always moderate but now that my tubes are tied they are heavy. Have you experienced this?

They are a bit heavier and much longer.  I was 4 days now it's 7 or 8 days.  UGH!!!!

Hi,
I had a tubal and an endometrial ablation(sorry if misspelled) about 4 years ago. I actually thought a I was about a year ago but all came back negative. I have two kids and my youngest is almost 7. My hubby and I made the decision to not have more kids for a reason. We want to be able to provide for them. I have heard of women becoming pregnant after a few months or a few years. Having one doesn't mean you can't. It is not 100% effective, there is still a small chance you may become pregnant. My doc assures me it's next to impossible but next to doesn't mean it is impossible. Best thing is to make sure your sig. other gets taken care of too. Every now and then I get an feeling that I am but because of my ablation it doesn't take. Good luck with it and hope this helps.
