Problem with son constantly pooping!?!?! Recently started teething, eating solids and formula...why?

His poop isn't diarrhea, it is formed poop. I have gotten lots of advice so keep it coming. I also heard to try Aquaphor instead of diaper rash cream. Also to try to let his bottom dry out as much as possible. I will try bananas too. Keep the advice coming....thanks.

Thanks for the comments..actually we found out it was strep butt and he is on antibiotics...looking better already!

when my bubs go through a diarrhea stage I stop all solids (you have to give their tummies a break - even my four year old only gets fluids if she has an upset tummy), use cotton balls soaked in water to clean and pour on corn flour at every nappy change - I found the corn flour works way better than anything else I could buy.

With the formula some doctors recommend that you even go to half strength while the diarrhea is ongoing, BUT that can be dangerous (if it goes on to long) so you really need to check it out with a doctor first.

My son had diarrhea for about 2 weeks when he was getting teeth, too. For solids, I gave him bananas, apple sauce, or oatmeal/rice cereal ONLY. Those are good foods for anyone who has diarrhea. Make sure he has plenty of fluids because he's loosing a lot. And when I was at home with him, I stripped him and rinsed his butt in the bathtub instead of using wipes at all. It's kinda gross for the tub, but I'm pretty sure it was less painful for his little behind. Finally, I used a thick coat of Vaseline on him instead of diaper cream. That seemed to protect his skin a lot better. Unfortunately, the rash hung around awhile after the diarrhea ended.

If he's always bloody, though, I think you should call the doctor's office and say you want to make an appointment, not just talk to the nurse. With so many things going on at once, your doctor could give you the best advice based on your son's age, size, and the way the rash looks. If you can't get an appointment by Monday, I'd try a new office. Based on your description, a good pediatrician's office would fit you in fast, I would think.

Sounds like he has diarrhea. If he's had it for 2 weeks and your doc doesn't want to help I'd find a new one. Or if you've only talked to the nurse, insist on talking to the doctor. If you're still producing I would go back to breast milk till it stops. He may be having a hard time adjusting to the formula combined with all the other changes. But either way I would stop solids. You could give some rice cereal. It's very binding and might help. Also like a pp said bananas can be binding too. To help with the diaper rash I would put him in a nice warm bath to help clean his bottom (don't scrub, just rinse). Its much more gentle then rubbing a wipe across his bottom. Also let him go diaper less as long as you can. The air will help with the rash. I would definitely get some help from the doc. Good luck, I hope things get better.

He's got diarrhea because he's teething, you've just introduced new foods to his system, AND you've switched from breast milk to formula. Did I read that right? He's had diarrhea for two weeks? Diarrhea for TWO WEEKS?! Find another doctor! In the meantime I'd stop solids or go back to breast milk or something so you're not shocking his poor system.

Try giving him bananas, don't give to many because they can constipate them you don't want the opposite problem. For the diaper rash aveeno makes an oatmeal bath that works really well you just add it to the bath and let them sit in the tub for about 15-20 min and desitin maximum strength works great for diaper rash
