Pulling out hair

My little girl has pulled her hair out since being little but now it is getting worse. She only does it when shes in bed but its getting to the point where she is going bald and digging her nails in her head and making it sore. It seems to be a comfort thing as there is nothing wrong with her scalp but how do I stop her doing it?

What's her pediatrician suggest? Not super helpful I know, but I do know that there is a psychological disorder where people pull out their hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes. I'm not saying that's what this is, but something to look into. Good luck.

She is 20 months and already takes a teddy to bed and is very settled at night. We haven't changed her routine and she doesn't do it when stressed only at night when shes falling asleep. Fingers crossed she will grow out of it soon.

You are right this is a habit which is really hard to break. You have not said how old your child is. Hair pulling can be a sign of stress. Have you changed your childs routine like returned to work or started a new playgroup? Try giving your daughter something to snuggle into at bedtime like a small fleecy blanket to rub around her face to give her security and something else to do with her hands. I wish you good luck with this one it is going to be a hard habit to break. xx
