Is there a toy library in your area? Same concept as a regular library. You could borrow them, see which he likes the best.  Or go to the local toy store or baby shop.  They usually have toys on display for parents and kids to 'roadtest'.  I found the Fisher Price brand of toys terrific.

My son has always loved this table. It held his attention for hours and was great when he could hold himself up, but not walk yet. He got it when he was 6 months old and is now 2 1/2 and still likes to play with it.

Well, if I understand you correctly....the leapfrog table is one of my son's favorites. It also allowed him support when he started to walk. And can also be used as a floor toy with the legs detached. Also, I have purchased many toys from a local good will....we have saved tons of money on some toys that were never even taken out of the box! Nicholas also loves music, puzzles and books-like the touchy-feely kinds. Good luck!

My daughter is almost 4 now & she had the leap frog music table. She loved it & we did as well. It held her attention and was worth every penny. She had a good bit of "learning" toys but she learned the most about colors, shapes, talking, etc. from her interaction with us. We read lots of books to her and still do.
