questioning doctors diagnosis

Im not just sitting back doing nothing. Over the past 8 months 90% of all the doctors Ive seen (which is a LOT of doctors) have gotten thier diagnosis wrong and Ive found the most effective approach is to do my own research, so thank you Tina, I will research RSV and see what I find. Also, I just ound out that my friend is headed to the city in two days so if by then I feel that Kayla is still in need of medical attention then I'll be able to get a ride to the childrens hospital. As for insurance, I do have it, but I live in Canada and insurance doesnt cover transportation. Thank you everyone for your help. If anyone else has any ideas as to what could be causing my daughter to be sick, I would really appreciate it.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which causes infection of the lungs and breathing passages, is a major cause of respiratory illness in young children. it may only produce symptoms of a common cold, such as a stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, mild headache, cough, fever, and a general feeling of being ill. RSV infections often occur in epidemics that last from late fall through early spring. could also be a soft valve and ventolin may help. Goodluck hope you find out what is going on. I definately agree with Kathy. Trust yourself especiallyh where your childs health is concerned and find someone who can help with Transport.

If you have insurance call your insurance company and see if they have transposition available. A competent pediatrician won't hesitate to contradict another Dr and will do their own exam. They will ask for the records because they will have useful information. Including determine if the records match your description. I had a nuerologist go as far as telling me she thinks some of the records on my son were falsified to cover the Dr's and hospitals mistakes during my son's birth. A children's hospital would be a great place to start. Many insurance plans have some sort of transportation available. If not, call the hospital and ask the operator for someone who deal with transportation issues. Another resource is Ronald Mcdonald house. I'm sure there will probably be some form of support there because that is what they do is support family's in these situations. The local healt dept is another resource that may also have a way to help you and WIC is another one you may try. If you don't have health insurance there is probably some sort of govt.program for low income. You may also contact a local church and see if someone there could help. The little town I lived in had a catholic charity that provided transportation for people. I live in AZ so I have a fairly good knowledge base here but I still find out something I didn't know or never thought of all the time. The children's hospital will have all the specialists you need on their staff and they will be qualified specifically in children's issues which very often present themselves differently in infants, toddlers and adolescents than they do in adults. Even a competent Dr can't know it all but it is unconscionable that he told you this would just clear up in a few months. Her body is reacting to something. If you need to hop a bus and show up in the emergency room. Again I want to encourage you to trust yourself.

I'd be persistant and demand they check her thoroughly and explain why. The sleeping alot may not be a concern she might just be growing etc but you know your baby better and if your concerned and getting no where you may have to stomp your feet a little unfortunately as for the breathing if you're keeping her warm and it's still happening and he can't come up with something keep trying different doctors maybe. Go to a different clinic. If your baby is having trouble breathing the should be having a closer look or keeping her in hospital so they can see it for themselves. I know of a couple of babies that have had respiratory problems not asthma will find out what it was. But it's certainly something that should be taken more serious by your doctor. Maybe there's a mothers group or baby centre in your area that may be able to help you either with transportation or something useful can only ask around.

shes 8 months old. i live in a small town...thats not how it works round here. ive always said all i could say to the doctors. ive never just given up when a doctor says i dunno which ive heard like a million times already from those bastards. what ive foundis the best tecnique for dealing with them is to do the research myself, come up with a diagnosis then going to the doctors and saying my daughter has this this and this and needs this medicene. Thats what I did when Kayla had thrush because I was tierd of dealing with all the bull$hit. It really does work alot better that way

I KNOW that the previous breathing problems were cause by mold, because when we moved my daughter got better. We were seeing a periatrician, but she was convinced that it waas acid reflux causing the breathing, not the mold, so I kept going to walk in clinic and saw every single doctor there. Finally, someone told me that it was definitly mold related. We got a dr note exusing us from the lease, moved, and Kayla got better. My point is that the pediatrician is in the same boat as the other doctors. I even went to a second pediatrician for a second opinion, but he knew that it was just a second opinion because the hospital faxed kaylas file, so he just parroted everything the other doctor said without even really checking my daughter. As for the mold, I didn`t know any better. I honestly believed my landlord when I was told that everything would be fine if I kept the windows open and wash with bleach...obviously I know better now. There is a childrens hospital in the city, and theyre health care isa million times better then this small town shit hole hospital, but its an hour away and i have no transportation.

I would go to a pediatrician and get a second opinion. I have learned the hard way I know my child better than any doctor. You may even want to try a developmental pediatrician. Dr.s that specialize in children w special needs see a lot of things others don't. My son almost died because I was blown off by the nurse at the pediatricians office. After he was hospitalized they continued to ignore my concerns a never told me anything after a week they transferred him to a University Hospital were he finally got better because he just needed to eat. He has a neurological problem that keeps him from using his muscles. If the pediatrician was competent we would have avoided a 2 week hospital stay. She should not stay sick unless there is a reason. Mold doesn't necessarily go away from cleaning with bleach. If there is mold in the walls you may not even know it is there. Someone should be able to test for it. If it's there you should be able to break your lease and move if it's not treated properly and that takes a specialist.

Don't stop until you are satisfied. You are your child's advocate. Don't let someones ego intimidate you, MOTHERS KNOW when something is not right. In the special needs comunity I hear stories every day from other mothers who were blown off by some "professional".
