so, it is possible to have any kind of cancer because of cellphone and cell sites radiation?..need some more advice about it..our house is just beside a cell site..in bothered my child is leaving there..please give me more knowledge about it..thank you..

A doctor told me to use a hands free device (not a blue tooth). The device should be connected to the phone since the radiation goes to the phone. If you use a hands free, the radiation goes to wherever you have the phone and not right next to your head.

Informative post . . . Very intresting to see different view points and I agree with everyone cause you all make valid points and you all do make sense . . . heres some more info for you moms if you care to look, we owe it to our children to be informed, most cancers are caused over years of use, childrens skulls are much thinner than an adults so their brains have less protection. I once saw an xray of a childs brain and how the radiation moved into the brain it was shocking. I wish I still had that image to show you and then maybe you would think twice. Its not to say I don't let my children use my cell phone but only for a few minutes now and again, I certainly wont let my 10 and 11 yrs olds have their own phone.
Most of the research I believe is biased, you only have to look at who does the studies in the first place, theres alot of scientists out there that are paid to prove something is safe by the companies themselves, just think how much money is at risk, cell phones are a multimillion dollar industry.
Theres a reason why some european countires have proven them unsafe, because they are, in the UK they advise under 16 yr olds not to use them , why would they say that if they are safe?
I would rather act on the side of caution.

I guess when something threatens to pose danger to our health and of our children, the 1st instinct as a mother is to be allert and defensive while finding out more about the threat. I agree that almost everything in our environment is a health risk. But when used on a moderate basis, the risk is minimised. We don't need to throw away our phones and electronic equipment (I guess none is proposing that either), we just need to be allert and not expose ourselves too much to these things. I also think this information has been blown out of proportion.

It's too bad you post information on here for people to read and they blow it way out of proportion. I think we do need to think about the amount of cell phone use our children under 16 are doing. No kid in my house will get a cell phone until they can pay their own bill!

The iPhone is listed as one of the safer phones that emits less radiation than others. Most of the smart phones are safer than other phones. They emit much less radiation. The downfall is that it costs much more to have and use a smart phone. I am still not sure home much time I would allow my child to use the iPhone. Keep it at a distance if at all possible.

Many of you are acting crazy and making crazy comments. I don't believe Susan is telling you not to have a cell phone or to throw it away. She is simply saying that you should do some research and be careful letting your young children use it for a lengthy amount of time.

I believe these are the countries that currently ban cell phone use for Children. Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Australia, Germany and China.

Watched a documentary on this not that long ago (wish I could remember the name). In most countries it's highly recomended that children younger than 16 not have a cell phone.

I totally agree with you Susan. I believe other countries are already banning the use of cell phones by kids. Environmental Working Group just put out a list of all the different models and how much radiation each one emits so you can make a better choice if you still want to use one. I use mine occasionally (I never carry it in my pocket or anything), but I never let my kids use it. Kids' skulls aren't nearly as thick as adults so they absorb a lot more of the radiation. They even include a little warning pamphlet when you buy a new phone for crying out loud! Definitely worth doing a little research into people!!!

And no, the toxic environment has nothing to do with the fact that my daughter has her condition in the first place. It's been traced back at least 3 generations, prior to the "toxic environment". She just simply displays more features of the disease. Thanks to our current advances in medicine and science, we are fortunate she is alive.

Lol! You're so funny! First, it costs us at least twice as much to just HAVE a land line than a cell phone, so we don't own one. Second, when we live 4 HOURS from the hospital we have to go to, and most of the time we need contact with a doctor en route, how would this work with a land line? That's one long cord! And what do you recommend for people in car accidents in our terribly rural area? WALK to the nearest house? A woman did JUST that in January here, and died. She froze the approximate distance of 2 city blocks from her vehicle (still several miles from the nearest house). You can use what you like. The rest of us will do as we choose, all the while thanking God you don't make that choice for everyone.

It's just completely beyond me. Everything states how this and that will kill you earlier, yet people are living longer worldwide than ever before. So where's the problem? Yes, there are many products that are unsafe. But the trade-off is sometimes totally worth it! For example, we use our cell phones to get in contact with my daughter's doctor on a regular basis, and sometimes speak for a couple hours per day depending on how she's doing. If I didn't have a cell phone this wouldn't be an option and my daughter would be dead. There are many people everywhere that can say the same in regards to multiple "unsafe" products. And if it weren't for all kinds of "unsafe" technology, the medicines myself and my children need to survive wouldn't exist, so neither would we. There are many people that can also say that. Sometimes people really need to think things through.

Leading cause of death is life. Sorry, my cell is the only way I can deal with my kids' father. And yes, they use it once a day for a few minutes to talk to him. More often than not, though, they use the speaker function. Keeps the unit away from their heads and enables them to communicate with him.

The thing is, there is data to back it up. It's not a crack pot theory, it's why a lot of well known doctors say to use a head set connected to your cell phone. They also say that men shouldn't clip it to their waists or keep it in their pocket.

Yes, we've used microwaves over the years and they're safer now then they were but we also didn't walk around with them stuck to the side of our head 24/7. How much of a jump is it to think that something that emits radiation is bad for you....
It's like tanning beds, there will still be people who love using them so much they'll blow off research and then there will be people who realize they're not healthy.

I'm not saying everyone should get rid of theirs but I am saying that people should pay attention to what's out there and think about it. I agree with the OP, maybe we should know what we're talking about when handing our kids cell phones at such young ages.

Realistically if you listened to every bit if "research" done you should of died years ago. Things like, you shouldn't eat this, you shouldn't eat that. Doing this will kill you etc, etc. Well i hate to break it to you but we all have to die of something eventually. Of course no one wants to think of their children dieing but its a fact all of we are all going to go. So if its not from radiation, it may be skin cancer, are you never going to go in the sun again?

Well, risk of cancer is higher, but risk of Alzheimer's is lower. So even if you die of a brain tumor, you know what's happening. It's part of life, and if you choose not to use it, put yours away.

In fact, considering the results of this study, I'd recommend strapping a cell phone to the heads of all family members diagnosed with Alzheimer's for at least 2 hours a day (per the study) to reverse the effects. Safer than pills in my opinion, and the pills do not reverse the damage already done.
