Rear-facing carseat and the sun

I just switched my 9-month old from his infant car seat to a convertible car seat, but am keeping him rear-facing (and will be doing so for as long as I can.)

The only problem is that on the drive to and from work, the sun is directly in his face. This was not a problem with his infant car seat, as it had a movable canopy. But this car seat (the Graco My Ride 65) does not have one, nor does Graco sell one as an accessory. I've Googled until my eyes have crossed, looking for a solution -- there used to be a universal car seat canopy out there, but they don't make it anymore. And my baby will not keep sunglasses or a hat on for love nor money.

What have the rest of you done to keep your baby from being blinded by the sun while rear-facing?

We hung muslin cloths off the straps with pegs , worked great and never fell off as they were secured on plus they let the air through we also had window socks but they didnt do much to be honest .

I have the rear window sunshade Jennifer mentioned. It worked wonders in my sedan. Now that we have a minivan, I have 4 of them, one on each side window. Even with the dark tint, that sun can be blinding -- the shade helps block it.

Thanks for posting this question, because I have been worried about that too! My son is still in his infant car seat with a canopy, but I'm about to get him a convertible car seat.

I just have the window socks for the side window, they are not great, but they are better than nothing, they are better than the suction cap ones (I have one of those on the big back window.) if you find a miracle product I would love to hear about it too!
