I am not going too far, a couple of hours but not many places to stop, not even side of the road. What do you do? Thank for helping.

I had the same fear with my step daughter, so we took the potty chair with us, and limited the amount of fluids she was consuming in the car....turned out we didn't need the potty chair after all! She held it and was proud not to have an accident. We strongly argued with her mother who felt putting her back into pull ups was the way to go.....Definitely not, she was such a trooper, now we don't take the chair with us at all!

We drove cross contry the month my son had potty trained. I did put him pull-ups. We didn't have space to put the potty in the back so that was the only other option. I just explained to him that he was in a pullup in case mommy couldn't get him to the potty fast enough. We do carry the potty to parks and shorter trips . Good luck :)

Sara, Baby's are us has a similar, though lesser quality item. But it still will do the job in a pinch. Otherwise, I don't see why one of your US friends couldn't just send it over. I'll be that person if I need to be, but shipping might be expensive on the potty, as I live in Texas. The piddle pads shouldn't be too bad. If you need to reach me email me at include piddle pads or travel potty in the subject line please. Best wishes!

Quoting Nancy:
Hi Sara! I think I can help! If you go to www.onestepahead.com and put "potty" in the search box you will find a travel potty that looks as though it is easily portable, storable, and great for travel. I've never used it bc funds have been tight. None the less, if I had money for it, I would have purchased it. I copied a bit from the site, and it is posted just below this. Also search "piddle pads". This is what I use for accidents so I don't have to disassymble the car seats, wash the covers, and wait for them to air dry which really stinks when you have plans and time is of the essence. Anyway, hope this helps! Let me know what you think.
Our portable potty is so compact, a child can carry it! This potty-in-a-briefcase is very easy to set up and fold down. Perfect for takin' care of business on the road. No cleaning required: just secure a one-gallon zipper bag to the seat for fast, neat disposal. With carry handle, support handgrips for kids, and two handy storage compartments. Four zipper bags included. Supports kids up to 70 lbs.

You might not even have to worry about it. I went on a day trip with my daughter (also newly potty trained) to a city 2 hours away. I had her in pull ups just in case. She refused to use a potty all day so I thought she'd end up using her training pants on the way home. We left around 10 am and got home after 11 pm and she was still dry. As soon as we got in I dragged her up to the toilet! lol Bringing the potty chair along sounds like a good idea to me if you don't want to have her in pull ups for the drive..

I agree with Katie. It might b a short trip, but u never know. My daughter had to go one trip we went on and I had to pull over to the side and hold her so she could go on the side of the road...she hated it..i prefer to carry a potty chair then to have her do it on the side of the road again..Even public restrooms are not the cleanest =D

I travel with my children often and it never fails they have to use the bathroom when there is none in sight. I carry a baby potty (the kind you used to potty train them on) in my car. I also bring flushable wipes so I can dump the contents in the toilet when we get to one. This has helped me over the years from many pants wetting disasters. Hope this helps. Have a fun trip.

What I am more nervous about is that she will need to go when we wont be able to stop anywere not even side of the road. I dont now how long she will be able to hold it. I was thinking of stoping on the way, but she is sometimes stoburn if she dont feel she needs to go she wont try. Did yours have to go often on the way?
But your right Alison when she will be 20 it wont matter anymore and probably be a funny story to tell.

My daughter has done really well on roadtrips. Assuming your daughter is not having frequent accidents you should be good. I have taught my daughter to pee in the grass (she loves it!)
If you are nervous and she doesn't mind, I would say go ahead with the pull-ups. I put my daughter back in pull-ups for nighttime during our holidays (I didn't have a change of sheets and I wanted to sleep!!!) She had no problems going back to her panties. Your daughter will totally understand that a road trip is not a typical circumstance. Do what you feel comfortable with. When she is 20, none of this will matter!

i just went on a road trip with my two year old, who is potty trained. i took the potty chair with us and when he had to go, we just pulled over and i set him up in the back of the van. i took some wet wipes and cleaned the potty when we were finished so we didn't have to smell anything the rest of the trip. worked like a champ. good luck, have a safe trip.
