chickpeas, avacado slices, pita and hummus, baby carrots and ranch, celery with peanut butter, raisins, grapes, apple slices, mandarin oranges, cherries, little mini cheeses like the bluebell rounds or triangles with crackers, bottled water (sometimes with a flavor packet of green tea or something like it) or an organic juice box... but this is all just suggestions and things my husband and i have come up with as ideas for our little one. she started "big girl" school (kindergarden) 3 weeks ago and has wanted to eat in the lunch room so far. but i am not pleased with the school lunches really and will be packing up lunches by the end of this week. they let 5 year olds pick out their lunch, which is fine if supervised well enough to make sure they were getting a veggie and a fruit each day, but they don't and i'm tired of my 5 yr old coming home to tell me she had french fries and a cookie and chocolate milk. so the packing begins! :) good luck mama... hope some of my foods gave you some ideas!

I always put a some kind of fruit in their lunch bag. They also love the little piece of candy too!

celery filled with pnut butter? raisens in little boxes? nuts or granola? Special K makes a wonderful power bar and a fiber bar. What about looking on the internet for finger foods? oranges? you can put a little message in the box for him/her. http://familyfun.go.com/games/healthy-fu... This website might help.

I make a sandwich (my daughter likes turkey or ham best with cheese, pickles and a sliced tomato on whole wheat bread) and them I also pack a juice box (Juicy Juice is my favorite) a fruit cup and a rice krispy treat. I also pack her a snack of a cheese stick for her to eat durring her first recess of the day. Another thing I put in there every day is napkins, and I always write a note on one telling her I love her and I hope she has a good day. Making my daughter's lunch is something I just love doing for her! I remember when my mom would make mine and I love sharing that connection with my daughter! :)

A favorite sandwich cut with a cookie cutter in the middle, an apple with the middle cut out and filled with peanutbutter, a sandwich made with a tortilla shell, finger food. I sometimes put a special note in the bag or draw a picture encompassing their name.
