My son has Sensory Processing Disorder, and he is excelling in most areas except for feeding. HE IS STILL EATING ONLY BABY FOOD AT 27 MONTHS! He will also eat crunchy things like crackers or cookies, but absolutely nothing else. It's maddening! Is there anyone else who has gone through this? What did you do to cope?

He is in E.C.I and currently involved in occupational, speech, and nutrition therapy. He is doing really well in almost every other area of his development, except for the food stuff. His therapists offer helpful techniques, but he just isn't responding. I was looking mostly for other moms who have dealt with this before, as a way to learn how to cope with the frustrations and feelings of despair. I'm trying so hard, and nothing seems to be working. I'm just wondering if there are other moms who've felt this way. Surely i can't be the only one :-)

You might want to speak with your pediatrician about getting your son speech and/or occupational therapy to help him learn to tolerate different food textures. I wouldn't be too concerned about him eating baby food, as long as he's growing and getting proper nutrition, but there are therapies. There is a Sensory Processing Disorder association website with help for parents of children, and support groups. www.spdfoundation.net
