My 4-year-old son has some seriously dry skin on the bottom of one foot. The only thing that seems to work is Neutrogena Foot Cream, but I don't put it on everyday since we don't bathe everyday. The foot has been this way for over a year now, spreading slowly, and the pediatrician keeps saying not to worry about it - kids' feet do all kinds of weird stuff that clears up. And it has never hurt or itched, so I didn't worry about it. But last night, he showed me that it has spread to the top of his foot and said that that part hurts. It's not on the other foot...yet! He rarely goes barefoot anywhere, and his shoes have been changed a few times since he's growing like crazy. There are no sores, pus or blood...just dry, peeling skin. The pediatrician did specifically say that it's not athlete's foot or any fungus. Any clue?

USE AQUAPHOR! It's the best! I have had so many skin issues among my 4 kids I can not count... aquaphor is the best!

I have the same problem with my feet, but they really itch too. I use the Walmart brand of Cetaphil cream. It is the only thing that works for me. This will sound crazy, but it really works too...I saw on Oprah to use Stidex (to remove the dead skin) and then a thick cream or vasaline and then put on socks. I try to do this weekly. Good luck

It does sound like eczema to me but I would definately ask your doctor to take another look. I use Lansinoh Lanolin for breastfeeding moms. It's fabulous and I use this on my nephew's cheeks. He is only one and I was worried about him getting this into his eyes. This lanolin is hypoallergenic and completely natural. It cleared up his skin in a few days. Good luck!

It sounds like eczema...Both my kids have problems with dry skin and I use a cream called Spectro for Kids...It's a very heavy moisturizer specifically for eczema but it works beautifully for dry skin. I swear by it. You can get it at any Wal-Mart store in the pharmacy section. It's a little expensive but it lasts you a long time and it's soooo worth it.

Hello my boys are born and raised in Colorado and have had eczema since they were a few months old. IT comes with the dry weather. I use Aquaphor Healing Ointment it is a clear cream with no smell. I put this on them every other day when they get out of the bath. When they have a bad break out we use a perception cream called Mometasone Furoate. You can find the Aquaphor in the baby diaper cream area at the store.

good morning, my daughter, who is now 7, has had exzema since birth. My pediatrician recommended Eucerin...it is a bit expensive & we have found that any store-brand Eucerin (CVS, Walgreen's) works just as well BUT you want to use the Cream, not lotion. Lotion can be very oily...The cream is thicker & seems to last longer. Also, we moved last March to a house that has all hard wood floors, the old house had carpeting. My daughter's skin has been amazing now!!! Even if you meticulously vacuum, shampoo, etc etc I swear it has something to do with it!!!

Good Luck!!!

My 13 yr old had eczma the first two years of his life, I called him my little grasshopper as he rubbed his legs together constantly. I finally found a dermatologist that suggested that I apply a thick layer of eucerine cream then a damp pair of 100% cotton Pj's with a dry pair of cotton Pj's over the wet ones..It sounded very crazy to me at first and then I tried it and it was the first night he slept through the night! I also found out that he had many food alergies which were causing the eczema! Now at 13 he has flare-ups but uses AquaPhor...hope that helps

We have eczema and psoriasis in our family and the only thing that works has been Arbonne baby care- my son had eczema as a baby and had scars on his body from it when our doctor told us to use Eucerin and Aveeno's- neither of them worked very long.  Once I understood the science behind it all- I got it!  The other products just treated the symptoms not the real issue of losing moisture.  the arbonne baby care products actually added moisture plus didn't dry it out again plus has antioxidants to help with scarring.  He is now 7 and has no scars and as long as he uses Arbonne baby care- he has no breakouts anymore either- no peeling or dryness or dry spots at all.  He had a sleepover for several days while we were visiting family in CA and they bathed him with their stuff and after about 3-4 days, he was breaking out again with eczema- so it's still there, we just keep it at bay with the Arbonne baby care.  I highly recommend it.  You can purchase it from any consultant.  If you need help with that, just let me know.  Wish you the best!! :)Sarah

This happened with my daughter too. I took her to the pediatrition and he told me that she has eczema. We started out using baby Aveeno but that never worked so i switched to Eucerin and that works GREAT! Hope that helps!

I'm not sure what it is but my son has severe dry skin as well.  I think it's eczema.  I've used Aveeno's Baby lotion which is specifically for dry skin/eczema/sensitive skin.  It works really well but he still has some peeling and dryness.  Good luck!
