I am 39 weeks and was just curious if having relations really help induce labor. My husband and I have tried everything but that and I was wondering if that worked for anyone. Please share your info!!! Thanks for your help!!!!

It worked for me!!! 15 mins after finishing doing the deed I went into labour and Harry was born 4hrs 45mins later lol! Mind you I did have a false alarm the week before, so maybe my body was ready to go. He was born at 39+2. Give it a go. It can't hurt and even if it doesn't work it's fun trying!! Good luck x

Yes, it worked for us, but like the ladies before me, I was already showing signs of labour. Good luck and please dont stress if things take a little longer then the expected, let nature take it's course.

Didn't work for us... Son was late... and the next two were planned C-sections. In the end, babies are going to be born when they are ready... but sex during pregnancy can be good fun- enjoy before the baby comes b/c after it takes a while before you'll be even really wanting to.

Hiya......unfortunately it didn't work for me and my husband! - I was overdue by almost 2 weeks, sex didn't work, eating hot curry didn't work, raspberry leaf tea didn't work, walking didn't work, drinking pineapple juice didn't work....I tried EVERYTHING! Old wives tales or new age methods.....nothing worked for us. My son made an appearance when he was good and ready, and nothing I tried was going to convince him otherwise! - Good Luck! :o)

it does as long as you have unprotected sex and it usually has to be while your in labour as it helps dialate you further. other then that housework and fast walking works

I had sex up until the day before phoebe was born. I was having regular contractions for two weeks prior so I didn't notice any change. In general, sex and nipple stimualtion like amy said can bring on contractions not because of a wives tale but because during both sex and labor, the body produces Oxytocin which stimulates the uterus and after labor causes it to return to it orginal size. By all means go for it. Even if it doesn't ship you into labor, it is a fun way to pass the time. It sure beats pacing and cleaning.

It only works if the body is already somewhat ready for it to work.
If there is no sign bub is coming, sex won't do a thing.

Don't stress about it not working, at 39 weeks there is still plenty of time for nature to takes it's course.

Yes it is actually medicaly proven that the male sperm will help thin the cervix and nipple stimulation will help bring on the contractions...i know it sounds weird or like one of those old wives tales but i tried it and it worked for us..all 3 times..lol..good luck.
