Should I consider a tubal reversal?

I've heard it's expensive, and the 'success' rate of post-ligation pregnancies is fairly low... you can always consider adoption. Talk to your husband and your doctor. It also depends on 'how' you had them tied (was it snipped, burned? banded?) that will make a big difference.

I am wanting to get a tubal reversal. I have two wonderful kids now and I am going to be getting remarried and he wants a child of his own. I feel for everyone who is considering this. We are going to do it and hope it works.

I know how you feel... I would really like another child, somes days it totally consumes me and i can't think of anything else... We already have two...

Although i only take the pill to prevent it... I have discussed it with my husband and he first told me that he's thought about it but he thinks for financial reason's we can't.We aren't broke or anything..I think he just told me that he's thought about it to make me happy...Friends have told me i should just pretend to take the pill and trick my hubby but i don't think i could do it...What does everyone think?

I DID THE SAME THING AFTER MY THIRD CHILD BECAUSE WE WERE SO SET ON NOT HAVING ANYMORE CHILDREN...THE SECOND I WOKE UP FROM ANESTHESIA ALL I DID WAS CRY, THEY KEPT GIVING ME PAIN MEDS AND I JUST RUBBED MY BELLY AND WANTED TO TELL THEM THE HURT IS IN MY HEART AND NO MEDACINE U GIVE ME WILL EASE THAT PAIN! I HAVE MY MOMENTS WHERE I WANT ANOTHER CHILD, MOSTLY I THINK ITS BECAUSE I KNOW THAT I CANT HAVE ANOTHER ONE. I WOULD OF AT LEAST HAD THAT OPTION BUT I DONT HAVE IT! I HAVE SINCE THEN BECOME SINGLE SO I GUESS IT WAS A GOOD IDEA! I BECAME SO DEPRESSED EVEN LOOKED UP AND MADE ALL KINDS OF PHONE CALLS TO FIND OUT WHERE I COULD HAVE IT DONE AND HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST! IF U TRULY WANT IT GO FOR IT MAKE SURE THAT UR HUSBAND WANTS THE SAME THING THAT U WANT. I GUESS THE FIRST COUPLE PREGNANCIES ARE NOT GUARANTEED BUT I KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD IT DONE AND ARE HAPPY WITH THEIR BABIES!! GOOD LUCK!

Well Tasha, I think your desire to have another child is definitely something that you need to discuss with your husband. I dont know the success rate of tubal reversal but if your husband agrees and it works you definitely should pursue this.

You have 3 babies? Why do you want another?



My husband and I love kids. We delight in every little advance they make, every discovery that thrills them, and each new milestone they hit. Having babies in the house, made our house a happier house. Despite PPD & occasional hardships - we were always happy with a baby in the house because of the new discoveries that came almost every day.



I find some women enjoy being pregnant. They get treated special, waited on hand and foot and more special attentions from their husbands & family. Which is nice, don't get me wrong, but its not a reason to have a baby.



I do think you opting for the clamps versus the tie or cut & burn showed that you always wanted to keep this option open. Now you just have to decide why.



When you have your "why", you'll have answered yourself.

i had one 18 months ago. i was given 8o percent , recovery was so horrible , it didnt work . the pain ive suffered mentally. think long and hard before u do this . i would like to be ur facebook friend. we could chat

Not saying what you should do, but just a thought...I am currently recovering from the surgery to remove a tubal pregnancy; I had my tubes clamped (I guess that's all she did, I honestly never thought to ask what procedure she would use) after #4, almost four years ago. One side apparently healed enough for me to get pregnant, but not enough to let the fetus through. I had to have laparostic (sp?) surgery to remove the pregnancy on the left side (which is still extremely painful a week later), and on the right side to make sure that tube was cut and wouldn't heal back. If you have the reversal, you have a much higher risk of tubal pregnancy, and this is really a hard thing to go through! I had all the regular symptoms of being pregnant; my period was two weeks late, and I felt nauseous. I went to the dr. on Saturday, and took a pregnancy test which was positive. I went to the ob/gyn on Monday, had an ultrasound, found out it was in my tube, and also a possible miscarriage in my uturus (he couldn't tell if it was or just a large amount of blood). I spent about 5 hours at the dr. that day, and had to go in for surgery at 8:00 the next morning. Since then I have had a week-long period (very heavy with cramping), and the pain of recovering from surgery. I just tell you all this so you will think seriously about whether you want to risk it. It might have been easy to get pregnant before, but the reversal gives no guarentees of another healthy pregnancy. Have you ever thought about adopting? One of our kids is adopted, and three are ours biologically, and I promise you, you can love someone else's as much as your own. When you are given a child that needs you, you fall in love with them, just as you do at the moment you give birth. It's just a thought. Whatever you do, I hope it works out well for you!

see i had mine cut but i say go for it you clamped them because u truly obviously knew deep down you wanted another and what would be more precious but to add to your little family and maybe even a little Boy!! good luck

I think you need to tell your husband this and definately have more babies if you want more babies. Besides, your the one who has to stay home and mother the baby, not him. And you probably have everything you need from your other children so it's not like it's going to cost you a fortune.

I had a tubal after my 2nd and wish I hadn't some days. Does your husband want another?/ and the problem with reversal is it isn't gauraunteed and you put all the money and not to mention the pain into it. But if it something you truely want then go for it and talk with your doc about the successful rate!!
