My daughter went for her four month shots on Monday (she is actually 4.5 months). She got two shots and the oral. She was perfectly fine when she went in. Monday afternoon she was a little fussy, but nothing too bad. Monday night she was a little stuffy. Her symptoms progressed the past couple of days. Today she woke up with her eye swollen shut (it had been leaking earlier, but not green like this). I keep taking a warm cloth and holding it and going over it, but it hasn't cleared up yet. She is very congested and has difficulty nursing (I don't think it is loss of appetite though). She is coughing a decent amount as well. We had her sleep in her swing the last two nights and have been keeping her upright through the day. I have given her warm baths and used the snot sucker a lot (though she hates it). I called the dr and they said I could bring her in, but there is not really anything else they can do. She is EBF and I try to eat very healthy so I don't know how she got sick:(. Just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions. I hate that she feels so bad.

Nichole I'm sorry your little one isn't feeling well. In addition to the tylenol you could also do a steam shower to help with the congestion. Just close your bathroom door, turn the shower on as hot as it will go and sit in the bathroom with her for 10 minutes or so letting her breath in the steam. You can do this several times throughout the day. It's likely she’s having a hard time with nursing because of the congestion. I hope she gets to feeling better soon!

It could be allergies, it is the season for them. does she have fever? ALSO many times when you bring the baby in for shots, when you go into the doctor's office, there are sick children in there too, and the germs are all in the air, she could have picked up something another child had. see if the pediatrician thinks over the counter tylenol for infants would be ok to give. ALSO I think it would be good to bring her into the doctor. just to get checked

Thank you Stephanie. I am currently using a cool mist humidifier. Do you think that is okay? I never have really understood which one to use, but I can definitely try the shower thing also.

Thank you Holly. I gave her some tylenol a while ago. She seems to feel a little better which is good because I hate her feeling bad. I guess we will just have to wait out the congestion and hope it passes soon.

@ ashley, there are risks, but honestly immunizations are necessary, and autism isn't as rampant as people are led to believe... its also better than the diseases

my kids took tylenol as early as 3mo for teething, as long as you only give it to them every 6hrs it will be fine.

I don't think she has a fever, but our thermometers don't seem to work too great. The pediatrician did say she could take otc tylenol, but I have been weary about giving it to her. Do you think it would make her feel better?
