sick baby girl HELP!!!

Hello! Have you taken her to the Pediatrician? She might have more than just a ordinary cold. Usually at the young age,with a cold,doctors do not recommend giving Cold medicines. The only thing you can do is put Saline drops in their nose,and if their congested&have difficulty sleeping at night,you can rub a little Vicks Baby Chest Cold Vapor rub on their chest&if you don't have one,then purchase a Vaporizer. that will put Moisture in the room,from the Steam&open up their stuffy nose. They have the bottle of Menthol Vapor Liquid to pour into the little resevoir on the top of the Vaporizer. That's sold seperately. Give Tylenol if there's a fever. Follow label directions for correct dosage. Give plenty of clear fluids,like applejuice,room temperature or slightly cool,Gingerale diluted with a little water. Popcicles or Freezies are good too,especially if there's a fever&they're feeling Hot. Pedialyte Fluids are great,in keeping them from getting dehydrated. She may not have much of a appetite,but at least push the CLEAR fluids as much as possible. If you press your finger on her arm,leg,or top of her foot..and it stays dented in,take her to the Emerg.Room. They'll having to start her on IV fluids immediately. If there's a Fever,then stay away from the Milk/Formula products,for a day or two. She could have a Ear infection&may need to be put on a antibiotic. Sometimes with ear infections,they're tricky to recognize. Some babies will constantly rub or tug on their ears. You she take her to her doctor ASAP!...or the Emergency Room,because that's a painful thing to have to deal with. Crying is a baby's way of communicating with us adults,becuz they can't tell us what's hurting them. Also she could have a Upper Respiratory infection,or a combination,along with the Ears,but I wouldn't wait too much longer. As far as the other baby who's teething?...ALWAYS KEEP Infant/Children'sTylenol&Baby Oragel in the house. When babies are cutting teeth,it feels just like a BAD toothache,just like we get,when our teeth hurt. Give Tylenol every 4-6 hrs,or as directed on label,as well as the right dosage,which for a 9 month old,which might be the last line near the bottom of the little dropper. The 17yr.old has been a Juvenile Diabetic since 2yrs.old&his Blood Sugars are always fluctuating up&down. Everytime he gets a Cold,Virus,Flu,etc.,it makes his Blood Sugars go high& a lot of times we end up in the Emerg.Room,and find out he's Dehydrated,so I've learned from experience,the signs of Dehydration as well as other things. I'm also a Grandmother of a now,1yr.old lil' boy,and he's had his little Sickness issues,and I've had to teach my Daughter what to do or give her advice on what to look for when a baby is ill. Now when you've done all you can for 1-2 days,and the child's condition is not getting any better or it becomes worse...then CALL THE DOCTOR or get them to the Emerg.Room. You may be feeling tired and exausted,but as a Mother,You do what you have to do. Don't hesitate one more minute, These are your precious baby's lives you're dealing with here. When my kids where that age and younger, I used to give them a small cup of camomile tea with a tiny drop of honey. it always calmed them down and it is good for most childhood ailments. If she cannot drink it then pour a cup of it into a warm bath, it will do the same job. I still use the camomile tea for them and they are now 9 and 17 years old. hope your little gets well soon and you guys can get some sleep Take care.

I have three boys 13,10,and 3. My last two have been sick with asthma their whole lives. In and out the hospital since they have been born. I know what kind of crying your talking about. Something is definetly bothing her. Use your instinct whather u need to take her to the Emergency room tonight, because cold medicine not going to do the trick. If you go tonight you want be, as tired in the morning with two kids keeping u awake. 9 times out of 10 it usually gets worse. Wish u the best of luck..

Vicks vapor rub at the bottom of her feet with socks on - like the other ladies said...helps with stuffy nose and a cough....it always works on my girls.

Have you tried benadryl with her to help with the runny nose? That always seem to help when my son was little.

Be VERY careful with the Vicks. Some people can very strongly even have an allergic reaction to it, especially if a large amount is put on their feet.

If it is a deep kind of cough, maybe croup, take her outside in the chilly air. It helps my 11 month old breath easier. I also use the vicks on the feet suggestion.

DONT GIVE HER COLD MEDICINE. It isn't recommended for children her age. It won't really do anything anyway. give her some tylenol to ease her discomfort. this should make her comfortable enough to sleep. Also a humidifier in her room might help. I have 2 kids and when one is sick, I have that child sleep in bed with me. They seem to sleep better and if they need another dose of tylenol (or motrin if they have a high fever) i'm right there to give it to them. Good luck. It's hard to have a sick child. My daughter (4) was sick 3 weeks ago, my son caught it 2 weeks later (and is still recovering). Now my daughter has a cough and stuffy nose all over again. Not to mention, I caught it in between the whole mess. I was trying to take care of my son (who was sick when I caught it) AND trying to even function (my husband works 40 hrs a week, so during the day I'm on my own). Took me a week to feel better (even after my son was feeling better, I WASN'T). It isn't easy, but being a mom means you gotta do it all. you'll get thru it though. Good luck.

Put Vicks Vapor rub on her feet(not very much just enough to spread on the bottom of her feet) then put socks on. It works great for my kids especially when they are coughing. Hope this helps. Good Luck and God Bless! Hope your little one feels better.

Every Pediatrician is different but mine said to give my sone 1/2 tsp. of Benadryl or Claratin when he was as young as 15 months old.

i thought she is to young for cold meds.. she may have a slight fever its always hard to tell with her because she wont sit still to check and shes always warm because she sweats alot once she falls to sleep. we have the humidfier going i just dont know what else to do for her because like i said before soon as she falls to sleep shes up again crying

Use a humidifier. If you don't have one, sit in the bathroom with the shower on hot to steam the room. Give her some Tylenol or Motrin to help relax her and call your doctor in the morning. Most likely it is viral (common cold) but see what your doctor thinks. Good luck!

Do you have a humidifyier in her room? Does she have a fever? Possibly have her sleep on a slight incline so she drains? If it continues I would not hesitate to call your pediatrician...that is what they make the big bucks for...sometimes the cold medicines can have an opposite effect...they make my son jittery not sleepy...good luck

Cold medicine that will knock her out. Then take her to the doctor in the morning.
