My 9 month old wakes up 2-4 times a night. She is robbing my husband and myself of our sanity and it must stop. But she is standing already and i am afraid the "cry it out" method will only be a "baby standing screaming all night" method. Has anyone trained an older baby and how did you do it?

I had the sleap breaking with my eldest and youngest. My advice would be to take turns between yourself and husband to go to her cries.In my experience its like their trying to be in charge which is in longterm good thing for confidence but not if you are wanting to be confident rested parent.. I bought a book a few years ago called Toddler Taming and i have loaned it out on a number of occassions.Mainly get the kiddie into strong bedtime routine, bath, story unwinding calming time 10-15 mins then be together with the routine. guessing when you go to bed up they get. Never deviate no matter how frustrated you get,unless they are ill of course, be calm and positive but important, Together. Take turns going to the kiddie but give the exact same message. Night night ,no lights no soft drink, just calming but firmly, its time for sleep.you may go back n forth all night but honestly they will give up before you do if your firm. This has worked for all mine,4 of them so good luck. But it will be hard but it WILL work, takes 5-7 days if you stick to it. But get a read at Toddler Taming.

hmm... you could also try a dream feed, at 12am before she wakes at 130??

It could be a sleep disorder, or a lack/low level of melatonin, my friends daughter has to take melatonin pills every night or she wouldn't sleep. They figured this out finally when she was 3yrs and is now 10. I wish I could help further.

hey guys have tried seeing a doctor for that? i heard about sleep disorder but dont know about it well.

i have the baby whisper but it doesn't tell you how to put down a 9 month old girly that refuses to go to sleep!!! she rolls around the cot, .talks to herself but doesn't cry so the pick up put down method does not work. it can take over 2 hours for her to wear herself out and it's nearly 10pm i'm knackered haven't had 1 nights sleep since she was born.. she doesn't nap after 5pm and last meal is at six with breast at 8. i've tried to give her extra food porriage at 7pm to fill her up but doesn't seem to make a difference still up at 1.30 3.30 and 6.30. any ideas

That's a hard one... I read this book called the Baby Whisperer solves all your questions, in it she describes how to sleep train at different ages. It might help? The author is Tracy Hogg.
