Has anyone ever used the sleepy wrap sling for your baby? I am pregnant with my 2nd child and am thinking about buying one and am also trying to help my sister with registering for her 1st child. I didn't use one with my daughter but I have noticed babies are always so calm in the sleepy wrap and wanted to see if anyone has ever used one or can recommend another wrap. TIA!

Thanks everyone! I think I confused everyone by calling it a sling but I am more referring to the wraps that look kind of like shirts. I have a lot of things to look into now! Thanks so much for your help!! :)

If you are speaking of a sling that you wear:

I wore a sling when I took my newborn out. Mainly because, people are less likely to reach into your personal space to touch the baby. I didn't want my newborn getting alot of germs and for some reason everyone in shopping centers thinks it is ok to reach into the baby carrier and stroke the baby's head or grab their hand (which is even worse, since those hands go in the mouth!). It also was easy to have my newborn in the sling while I did chores and such. When she got older (the sling I had) I could set her on the back of my hip, sitting up, so that she could play, or sat her chriscross facing out in front of me.

If you are speaking of a blanket wrap:

The ones with the velcro are WONDERFUL!! There is a little pouch that they fit nicely in and then the blanket folds neatly around them and velcros. You can easily pick up the baby with out the fuss of a blanket coming undone! (I was never good at swaddling with a real blanket!)

I Love my Moby Wrap. It comes with directions for how to wear it and I practiced before baby came with my daughters dolls. I wore her practically all the time during her first weeks home it was so comfy. Now, at 3 months, she's too heavy for continuous wear, but I can go for long walks or shopping easily with it. It also helps when I nurse her in public as it prvides a bit of coverage and helps me hold her.

Congatulations to you and your sister!

I used the swaddle blankets too. My daughter loved it. I felt that they were safer than blankets that can get loose and cover the baby's face. The wraps hinder the startle reflex which is what used to wake her up a lot. They sell them at Babiesrus and they have different fabrics for different seasons (flannel, cotton). I don't know about the sling thing but as far as swaddles go, the velcro really helped.

I use the SwaddleMe swaddle blankets with both my kids. DD wore it until she was around 5 months old. DS is about 2 weeks and wears his every night. DD didn't sleep well until we got them when she was a few weeks old, and if we ever forgot it while traveling she would wake up a lot at night. They are really good.

I also used the Swaddling Blankets. I was given one at my baby shower and bought 3 more! They are great for sleeping and comforting. My son is 4 months old now and when he's having a hard time falling asleep I'll still use it, although its not as effective(hes too big). GREAT PRODUCT

If it supports baby's back and neck and his bum ends up lower than his knees with his legs at at least a 90 degree angle to his body it's fine. I haven't personally used a sleepy wrap, but I have used my own version of the Moby wrap, and it works great.

I had one, but it was soon apparent that my baby did not like her feet covered while she sleeps (except for when she's wearing footie pajamas), so it did not work for her. We kept it around and tried it on our last baby, who liked it for the first 2 weeks, but then diecided she likes to sleep all spread out and not covered (then again, we do live in a VERY warm climate - it's been over 100 for the last few weeks).

I think it's worth a try, but always know that all babies are different and your new one may or may not like it. It's always better to try than to regret not trying in the end! :)

Okay I'm a bit confused on what your refering to but will respond anyway, hee-hee. My daughter loved to be swaddled so we used a velcro swaddler for like three mo, it was extremely helpful when she was a newborn. Also I used a sideways sling carrier. My daughter went thru a rough time figuring out her daytime naps and this was a wonderful way for me to still be able to have day outings or get things done around the house. She went to sleep instantly and also would feed in there as well, we fed bm in a bottle. So I would think whatever brand you choose, some sort of wrap or carrier is a must!

Well, with any type of sling/carrier a child WILL generally sleep better just for the closeness of having a body there. I'd think it would be a good idea because you can have baby with you while you're running around doing things for your older one.

I used one that was a wrap, but not a sling. It was a swaddle blanket, that the baby nested in, and then it velcroed closed, so it wouldnt move about like a blanket would. I loved it, he loved it, and was nice.
