I used to sing old songs like Micheal Row the Boat Ashore, Jesus Loves Me, and any song that was quiet and soothing at bedtime, then livelier songs for play. Sometimes I even made songs up! When I became a teacher, I learned that singing to children is a great way for them to develop how letters sound (phonemic awareness) which helps them learn to read. So go ahead and sing!

I love to sing to my kids.I think it's great. I started when I was prego it made me feel good and I think that whatever we feel the babies feel too.All of my 5 kids sing.2 boys and 3 girls.My baby(15 months) makes his own tune and it sounds beautiful to me.I think it's good for them to be able to express them selves in all different ways.

That's great! Sing anything and read, read, read!! Friends used to tease me because I constantly talked, sang and read to my son. He began talking early and had a huge vocabulary before he was 1! You can get books out of the library that have finger songs (where is thumbkin, BINGO, etc.) or just sing whatever you like. Enjoy!

My daughter loves the alphabet song. She's 11 months and I've sang it to her since she was 2 months and her face just lights up when I sing it. She also likes to dance. She tries to sing while we dance.

Kids love music and it is very helpful for them in learning phonics. I sang to my children, and now I sing to my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I sing songs from Sprout, Sesame Street and I even make up songs about what we are doing right now. They love it.

My one year old LOVES being sung to! Her current favorite is "10 little Monkeys"...she will now "bump" her head with her hand, and shake her finger 'no' just to get someone to sing it to her. Her favorite bedtime song is "Baby Mine" from Dumbo.

Part of our routine in the morning is to listen to music. My babe loves it when I sing to her. "You Are My Sunshine", Hush Little Baby", "Grow Little Flower" and "Rock a Bye Baby" are a few of our favorites.

keep singing 2 her cause she will catch on at an early age n if u pick 1 song 2 keep singing it will be the song 2 calm her down when she cries as she gets older. my daughter is almost 13 now. she still loves the song i use 2 sing 2 her n i cannot sing lmao. i took out 1 word, replaced it with her name n she loved it. the song is the sunshine song. at the end i said " so don't u take my shayla away" wish u the best.

My baby loves when you sing ANYTHING to him. Even if your just talking and sing. My favorite things to sing to him are You are my sunshine, Hey Jude (his middle name is Jude), I'll stand by you, and also the things my great grandma used to sing to me A you're adorable, and Chatanooga Choo Choo. Oh and the winnie the pooh song!

My son loves all music! He's got this little piano thing and this other push toy thing that makes music and he'll old on to them and "dance" while the music's playing, it's so cute! I don't know if he has a favorite song, but I sang "Clap, clap, clap your hands" to the tune of "Row, row, row your boat" when I was trying to get him to clap and now everytime he hears that melody he starts clapping, lol! I also sing "Hush Little Baby" when it's nap and bed time.

my son is 10 mths old and i have always sang the hush a bye song from the flicka movie he loves it but he also loves pretty much anything as long as i sing it or dance with him to it lol...but the flicka song is definately his fav he can be screaming his lungs off nad as i start to sing it he calms down so he can listen to the words =)

Songs are a great way to entertain (and exhaust :-) ) kids and also teach them a thing or two, songs like how much is that doggie is good because its teaching actions and sounds and linking them to words

I used to sing the alphabet song with my kids. They loved it, and they learned the alphabet at the same time. While driving around with my youngest I used to play "What sound does the letter (fill in letter) make? My sister used to sing "Down by the Bay" and the kids loved that one too, especially when she would add her own silly things to it.

My 20 month old son LOVES music. He loves when you with him. We sing sngs from his favorite show Yo Gabba Gabba and he loves when you sing the alphabet with him. Now at 20 months he knows all the letters of the alphabet. Its so adorable! He also likes poems. His favorite is Baby Eyes!

Charlene I found that my kids and grandchildren now love it when I sing praise songs. There is a Praise Baby video which does song for the little ones and is so sweet and the pictures are great. One song I always sang to the kids was Jesus loves Me.

I always sang to my daughter whether it be songs on a cd or silly ones I made up. Her favorite was/is rock a bye baby but sang with more of a blues/rock sound. She is 14 now and still asks me to sing it to her every once in awhile before she goes to sleep!

most kids respond well to music of any kind, and they love their moms to sing to or with them, they don't care how you sound either! There are a ton of great kids CDs out there, Charlotte Diamond, Greg and Steve (?), Laurie Burkner, Red Grammar...just some great stuff. My son always loved music and in the third grade that is how he learned all his times tables, through song! Have fun! :)

actually i cant sing!! My little shuga sings to me ALL of the time!!! Of course she loves the Barney song but the one song that I do try to sing to her is Skidamarinkadink. I dont know how to spell it LOL anyway that is her all time favorite and calms her down and makes her happy everytime. She is 2yrs. old and knows all the words. I'm still learning them lol.

My daughter loves me to sing the ABC song to her unbelievably. Its amazing how its so soothing to her. She is not into fast songs so whatever song I think of I slow it down for her like The Wheels on the Bus or Patty Cake.

I would sing to my kids all the time. There is a song that I taught my youngest somtimes he starts to sing it when he is with me. It is good that your doing that . Get your child interested in music and singing you never know :) But its fun to act silly with your children. My daughter is 9 and she loves to sing. She likes alot of the songs I like . I did not put music using earphone to my stomache. But I did listen to music though. Keep having fun. :)

I have five children and when they are getting a tired of sitting in their car seats while we are driving I put on a CD that is insturments only. Fantasy Fiddlers or something like that..... it seems to calm even our baby down and sometimes they will go to sleep because it is so relaxing. My daughter liked Twinkle Twinke sung to her and now that she is three she enjoys singing it herself to her baby sister.

I am a grandma of 5. I have always sang to them. They absolutely love it. The barney song (I love you and you love me), if your happy and you know it. Another favorite was the bumble bee. Using your index finger go around saying bumble bee bumble bee come from the farm, sting little-------right under the arm. When you tickle under their arm they just love it.....

yes me also my little son (about to be 2 years) loves the songs of Barney he hardly talks but he say yoouuuuuuuuuuuu for the song of "I luv u, u luv me we r a happy family...etc" may be coz i always sing it to him before getting to sleep. I feel songs make babies more relaxing and cheerful.

My son has always loved for me to sing to him. He is just over a year old and his favorite song is "you are my sunshine" if he is upset I can start singing that song and he will hush. I also sing Amazing Grace and softly and tenderly to him a lot at night if I am rocking him. He has always loved music and he seems to calm him down. I have a silly song CD also and he loves it to.
