starting labor?

Who the hell is this doctor!!?? I would report him after all this is said and done. If you lost your plug, then I would say you'll be in labor shortly or are. Should have baby within a day.. I would time your contractions.. if they are 5 min apart and gradually getting stronger, get to the hospital ASAP.

well..you're not technically in active labor until you're around 6-8cm, if you think you are, and you just have this "gut" feeling like it's time to go, it's time to go! i would go to the emergency room and explain to them what's goin' on and if you get preggo again, definately switch doctors. if you're close to another hospital..go to that one instead. i thankfully have four pretty close to me so choosing one wasn't a big deal. congratulations!

I had a jerk of a doctor with my first and he did the same thing. He sent me home and I gushed once I got home and went to a different hospital. When I got there, the staff at the hospital I delivered at told me I had in fact been leaking amniotic fluid slowly before and I ended up having to stay in the hospital an extra day due to an infection.

In short, get a second opinion.

with my first son i had irregular contractions they sent me home fridays nite @1:30 am i went back @ 8 am they tried to send me home again @ about 12 they came in to sign my discharge i told them somebody better check first they said again you cant have a baby with such irregular contractions nothing can happen I had my baby boy @ 1:23 so go with your instincts and dont let them tell you any different!

Relax. . . when I went into labor with anyone of my four children I walked around the block and took long warm baths (with lit candles and calm music) or shower. The baby will come when it's ready. Have that good lookin' man in the picture with you give you a really good foot massage. It will take your mind off getting the baby out. When you are walking around and the pains make you buckle over - then start to time your pains. Good luck Brittany!

Go Back and tell them If something happens to your baby their will be a law suit that is the only way they will listen sometimes. You have to think about your baby that is on the way. Go back ASAP.

as a nurse i would say you are just about there. They say you are not in labor until you are 3 cm dilated (if first child, 4cm if 2nd babe) and are having regular contractions every5-6 mins lasting over 45 seconds long. Sometimes that test to see if your membranes ruptured can give you a false positive if perhaps you soaked in a bubble bath before hand. Certain things just cause a chemical reaction that make it look positive or it is possible that the swab was outdated. If you are having irreg contractions and they continue to come, great. Work with them. I would not suggest castor or mineral oil. It just makes more of a mess than anything and you more uncomfortable during delivery. Walk around, squats, swaying your hips side to side to get babes head down into position, sex, going up and down stairs. all these things hurt when you do them, but that will bring on the real contractions on a regular basis...labour! Drink fluids and most importantly, cause i bet it will happen soon, get your rest!! Don't go over doing things to start the labor. It will happen and you need to be rested up for the big moment. Stay relaxed and focus during the delivery. Wish you and babe all the best :)

Sweetie you need to go to the hospital and be checked again and tell that jerk of a doctor that you kno your own body and something isn't right. Just stay calm and don't get yourself upset that is the worse thing you can do at this point. Your 39 weeks so my guess is if you aren't in full blown labor than you are about to be and they can go ahead and get you ready for your new bundle of joy. I hope that everything works out keep us posted.

i just had my little girl in december. im 20. i lost my mucous plug about two weeks before i actually went into labor, but wasnt leaking any fluids. if you are still leaking fluids or whatever, i would strongly recommend going back to the hospital. if your water has broken, the baby can get infections. also if your contractions are starting to feel worse and close together, then go. i went on a monday night and was only 4 cm dilated and 75% effaced. I had her the next afternoon. it is better to be safe than sorry!!!

Believe me your probably in labor. Im 19 and had my daughter a month before I turned 19 and was scared. Believe me your ready to go back and make sure to tell the doctor where he can shove it. Also castor oil does not harm your baby or cause machonium.

I'd go to the hospital asap! That's what happened to me, and I was in labor! They can always give you medicine to speed up the process!

what if it isnt labor? why would i be cramping and leaking goop? i sound young and i am im 19 years old and this is my first baby. i have two step kids but it is soooo not the same. im scared and idk why my body is doing this.

Also take the castor oil with a full glass of orange juice with 1 tsp castor oil. Its very nasty.

Castor oil does work but be prepared to have runs during/after labor if it doesnt settle with you. Its suppose to make your contractions stronger. Also if it is fluid than yes you can get an infection or the baby can and the chances increase the longer you wait. So I would say yes go to the hospital and tell your doctor to shut it and admit you. Good luck momma and congrats.

GO TO THE HOSPITAL OR CALL its not his choice if he is in the mood...if you are in labor and its progessing or your water has broke then I believe they have to admit you!!!

i think ur in labour sound like it. id say ur gonna have ur baby in the nxt 12-24hours. by the way never use castor oil it makes ur baby poo inside u and they can get merconium in the mouth its very dangerous. mayb go back 2 hospital as soon as ur contractions r a bit more regular> p.s GOOD LUCK

t might be labor. dont try castor oil. mineral oil is safer and you can get it in the laxitive section of the store. also try walking a lot. you are also intitled to have another doc look at you. if you feel you need to be seen wait awhile and go back to the er or call and talk to a labor and delivery nurse. congrats and good luck

I would seriously try walking a lot. I don't condon what your doctor did he sounds like my last ob, a total ass, but with my son I was almost the same as you, but I was diolated to a 3 and 50% effaced and had the same thing happen with my fluid so i made them retake it a third time, that one came back neg. again so I just started walking and walking. I don't think you are supposed to have sex once you have lost your mucus plug, but if you can then you should that helped with my other two babies.
