I give mine spring water, I fear our tap water. Flouride, polluted source. I'll probably always give him spring water.

We used sterilized nursery water until he was 3 months, then we used filtered tap water (which is the only thing we drink in our house anyway). I suggest you get a filter for your tap or flter pitcher to keep in our refrigerator. For $10 you save all the hassle of boiling.

Tap water has many contaniments in it depending on where you live. I would suggest saving money on bottled water and look at getting some kind of filter system. Check out www.crystalquest.com They have a great selection of products from pitchers, faucet mounts, countertops, and whole house systems. Since they are the manufacture they can also custom make it to work with your water system in your area. Check them out. Let me know if you have any questions.

heck when i was younger we all just drank from a water hose i only boiled my childrens water if i wasnt sure where we were in town i just made the bottle with the powered formula and called it good never any problem

Boiled water is safer. Bottled spring water should be ok too. There are too many chemcials in most tap water 9unless a well then bacterial content might be ans issue).

I played safe.

We were told to boil ours until about 6 months. We will still use boiled water if there's any in the kettle otherwise it's just tap water.

If you have municipal water, you should be fine. 13 months shouldn't need boiled water. Bottled water is simply tap water in an expensive bottle.

I never boiled my son's water. That is unnecessary. Unless you have reason to suspect your city/county tap water is contaminated, which is very rare, tap water is perfectly safe. The EPA regulates drinking water very closely and FYI boiling water does not remove lead! We drink water from a Brita pitcher, but when my son was young, I did use some tap water for his bottles because he didn't like it ice cold. I had to give him fluoride drops for a while because our city water did not have fluoride in it. We moved since then and our water has fluoride in it, so we don't have to do the drops anymore. Now that he's on milk, juice and water, he gets water from the Brita pitcher too.

I live in Canada and our water is very clean in the cities. I did boil all of her bottles, nipples, and soothers until she was 6 months old. I continue to boil the water for her formula because I make 5 bottles at a time and feel better about steralized water sitting for a day in the fridge. My doctor told me not to use bottled water unless it was made specially for babies beacsue of the things they chemicals they add and use to clean the water.

I asked my peditrician about this and she said tap was perfectly safe. I'm not sure about water quality in everyone elses's area but we're really lucky to have great water. So my 10 month old has been getting tap water for a long time now.

Haha - Im still using boiled water but may try just using straight outta the tap after reading the other comments! Tap is actually better for your bub if its got some flouride in it than bottled water (help them get stronger teeth). Also dont recommed filtered water unless youve had it tested - have a friend who tests them and some filters actually add more nasties into the water than they take out! (who'd have thunk it huh?)

mine had tap water after 6 months, but after some research i did a while ago turns out you can give them tap water from birth its only in different countries that the water is not good and you have to use boiled water.

most tap water is fine. some websites i found say city tap water is so safe you never have to boil water for a baby, even a young one. but i stopped when she started using a sippy cup. my doctor didn't think it was an issue. that was at about 10 or 11 mos.

Talk to your doc. And, find out about your tap water...some areas have high flouride, or iron, etc. Be careful....but also remember...they didn't have things like "nursery water" whe nwe were young!

My daughter is 10 months old, and has been on formula since she was 4 months old - I've never boiled water or used the "nursery" water - just filtered water (if at all possible) and if it wasn't available, just plain tap water with never a problem. My daughter's pediatrician's office never said anything about boiling the water - so I never did.

I've heard some moms comment that they think boiling water may be from when tap water wasn't as pure as it is now.

I stopped giving my daughter tap water when she went onto proper milk at about 11 1/2 months so I think it's perfectly safe but if you're still unsure just nip into your doctors and double check.
