I clean. Not a dirt dish, ever, sweep and mop daily, clean the upholstry once a week. I am 3 months pregnant and my super nose can smell EVERYTHING. Mostly the stinky stuff. We have three dogs, two young children and occasionally the smokers walk through the house with a cigarette. No matter what I do the house is smelly. Any good deoderizing tricks? No cover ups. I hate coverups, just give me a trick to get that good 'ol clean house smell back.

Essential oils! Why did I not think of that.

I am a vinegar whore as it is, I clean everything with it.

Thank you for your suggestions!

I think airing out is def the first step, and kicking the smokers and their butts out to the curb... smoking in the house of a pregnant woman is BAD manners people!  I couldn't handle anything fragrancy or incense or sage, so I mixed a pure essential oil that agreed with my new super power of smell in water, just a few drops and put it in a spray bottle and would spray around the house.  This was fresh, unobtrusive and felt cleansing.  Never been a fan of geraniums as a plant but found the scent very nice.

i definitely agree to air out once in a while, but i have 2 kids and a big dog plus th occasional smoker, i LOVE ARM AND HAMMER ODOR ELIMINATOR , IN MOUNTAIN RAIN..you just sprinkle on the carpet and let sit a few, then vacuum up, i even put it on the furniture, smell lasts for days at a time

I agree with opening the windows and let it air out that is needed once in a while what we do or I should say my husband do is use a scented plug-in like glad in certain areas of the house. I must say when I walk in it smells good and I love it just like the febreeze commercials.

Ok first of all the smoke has got to go!!! If you have ash trays hide them, and post a sign on the front door, haha thats what I did. I use pinesol on my floors everyday, and I also have those air wic plug in in every room of the house. And once a day I spray dreft baby spray on all cloth furniture, carpet, curtians!! Anything it will go on haha

I know what you mean!  I can smell pregnant or not.  First, opening windows does a great deal.  Second, bleach diluted with water for the hard floors.  Third, if you have carpet, steam clean it.  Lastly, get yankee a yankee candle in a scent you like.  That is what works for me.  I can't stand a smelly house.  Everyday, I make sure my house smells clean.  Otherwise, I get aggrevated as soon as I walk in the door!

Sounds like a good air out is in order, and the vinegar and water works great, also you could use some cheap baking soda.  Sprinkle on the carpets, let it sit for about 15 min and vacuume up.  Make sure to use a fresh vacuume bag.  Good luck to ya!

try CHEAP vinegar, it has to be the cheap stuff, put it in a spray bottle and spray on any smelly stuff, i.e floors. i used it when my youngest was potty training and had the accidents on the carpet as well as when we were house training our pup. also i use metho to clean down the bathroom and toilet areas, YES the Vinegar will make the house smell like a fish and chip shop BUT ONLY UNTILL IT DRIES then there is no smell, Also a great deoderizor for carpets is BI CARB OF SODA, sprinkle it over all carpet areas at night or just leave it as long as you can and then simply vac it up it absorbs all smells. give it a try and see how you go, AND CONGRATES ON THE PREGNANCY ALL THE VERY BEST,

The best advise i can give you is to open all your windows and let the natural breezes come through for a day it makes a huge difference! Also i love disinfectant sprays that neutralize smells. Or choose a nice inscence or scented oil to burn or dab around the house. Hope that helps.
