STORKCRAFT CRIB RECALL
Dana - posted on 11/25/2009
They are planning on "trying' to ban them because over the years alot of them have broken at the plastic hardware on the latch or become dislodged on the side and children have been known to get their heads wedged between and have strangled. This is something that has been a concern for a while now. I also have a drop-sided crib that I plan of getting rid of. Luckily my son is almost 16 months so it's not a hassle for us.

I would also like to add that the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is now recommending getting rid of all side-drop cribs. They will no longer be certifying any brand of side-drop cribs sold in the US and they hope to eventually have them banned.

All Stork Craft cribs with a manufacturing date between May 2000 and November 2008 are included in this voluntary recall. The manufacturing date can be found on the lower right hand corner of the instruction sheet which is glued on the mattress base.
The cribs were sold in various styles and finishes. The manufacture date, model number, crib name, country of origin, and the firm's name, address, and contact information are located on the assembly instruction sheet attached to the mattress support board. The firm's insignia "storkcraft baby" is inscribed on the drop side teething rail of some cribs.

this is very scary too see my five month old has the exact crib their recalling... but i do know that starting to morrow you can call and have the parts replaced so there is less of a danger... Everyone should contact the maker of their crib for safety reasons regardless of the model if you ask me
